Lem turned to Madelyn and asked, “Hey, Madelyn, I’m stuck on a problem here, Can you give me a hand?”
Madelyn glanced at him and shook her head. “I’m stuck too. Why don’t you ask Kennedy? He’s ranked first in the whole grade,

Lem put on a pitiful expression. “He won’t help me.”
“But I’m not sure how to solve it either!” Madelyn then turned to Kennedy, inquiring, “Kennedy, have you figured out this problem? Could you teach us?”
Kennedy retrieved a workbook from his backpack. “Take a look at this. If you don’t get it, feel free to ask.”
Madelyn glanced at Kennedy and then at that workbook. After she took it, she was instantly shocked when flipping through it. “Y–You’ve completed all of these? When did you finish them? How did you do it so fast?”
Lem grumbled, “This freak must have finished them in less than a week after Mr. Newton assigned them.”
Madelyn wondered to herself, ‘Is this the superpower of a legendary genius? Does he possess some sort of divine blessing?’ In her pursuit of better grades, Madelyn often burned the midnight oil, reviewing Etlinish vocabulary before bedtime, She turned to Lem and asked, “Does Kennedy need a tutor?”
“The heck he needs it. He’s always been a freak. I sat next to him for three years, and he’d nap in class every day, scribble on tests, and somehow end up as the top student in the entire grade.”
“Really?”
“What are you guys discussing? Sounds intriguing. Mind if I join the conversation?” Jadie entered the classroom, holding a book.
The once lively atmosphere took an abrupt downturn.
Madelyn replied, “We were just talking about our assignments. What brings you here early?”
Jadie settled into a seat beside Madelyn and clarified, “They’re using our classroom for a movie scene. I picked up your backpack. Please check if anything’s missing.”
Madelyn accepted it gratefully and said, “Thanks, Jadie.”
Madelyn was the last to leave, adhering to the usual dismissal time. When she finally departed, it was already half past nine.
Today, for some reason, she felt unusually fatigued. Considering the hour–long journey back to the Arnold residence, Madelyn decided to spend the night in the apartment she rented.
