David had just arrived at the graveyard when he saw Thalassa and Lysander turning back the way they came. He could do nothing but follow them back, feeling totally bummed out and thinking that this was no way for a person to live.
After the small country path, they hit the village road, which, comparatively, was easier to tread.
As Thalassa reached the village entrance, she saw a big crowd gawking at the Rolls Royce. On spotting them, the villagers eyed Lysander with anticipation as their gazes filled with curiosity, admiration, and a hint of fear.
As Thalassa and Lysander approached, the villagers were awestruck by Lysander’s intimidating aura, each taking a step back to maintain a respectful distance while still watching from a yard away.
“Lysander, slow down, wait for me Isabella jogged over and began walking parallel to Lysander while looking up and grinning at him, her face full of
adoration.
She looked at him with the adoration and tenderness of a smitten woman.
Lysander didn’t even spare her a glance.
Isabella’s adoring gaze at Lysander left the villagers gobsmacked.
Turned out that this loaded dude had come for Isabella.
Had Isabella snagged a rich boyfriend?
That would explain why Isabella had suddenly become so wealthy, driving luxury cars and building mansions. The guy must be rolling in dough, or how else could he afford Isabella’s lavish lifestyle?

The curious villagers felt they had their answer and began to chatter among themselves. They were all green with envy at Isabella.
The whispers inevitably reached Thalassa’s ears. She heard the villagers say. “So this is Isabella’s boyfriend. He’s so handsome and rich. Isabella is so lucky.”
For some reason, she felt a pang of sadness
If Lysander was Isabella’s boyfriend, why did he pull her onto his lap last night?
Was he toying with her?
After the wave of sadness, Thalassa felt a surge of anger.
Thalassa quickly walked back home and stood in the living room, not offering to cook.
Lysander walked into her home as his gaze swept over the layout of the whole house.
It was a single-story brick-and-tile house. The whitewashed walls were crumbling, and the paint was peeling off in chunks. The roof tiles were old too; they were sure to leak if it rained
Despite its shabby exterior, the inside was spotlessly clean and tidy.
However, the whole house was cold and damp. Long-term residence here would surely lead to rheumatism.
The conditions were truly appalling
Lysander’s brow furrowed slightly, and he asked in a low voice, “Is there anyone else in your family?”
“My family…”
“Thalassa works outside all year round, leaving only her aunt, Astrid, at home, who is Celia’s mother.’ Isabella answered for her before she could speak She feared Thalassa would mention her four children.
If Lysander knew about Thalassa’s kids, he would undoubtedly probe further, making it impossible for her to hide the truth.

Thalassa responded, “She’s right, my aunt lives here alone.”
“Where is she?” Lysander’s gaze shifted inside the house.
Since she was Celia’s mother, he, of course, needed to meet her personally and arrange a better place for her to live.
