Chapter 59 Are You That Disappointed to See Me?
Conner’s body stiffened when he heard the cold and sharp voice, for it sounded just like Brayden.
Before the smile on his face could fade, he heard Brayden speak again. “Are you enjoying yourselves?” Brayden walked over with heavy steps, giving off a suffocating aura.
Hearing that, Conner and Alison looked at him simultaneously. Conner stood up in an instant and swallowed his saliva before greeting him. “B-Boss…” Why is he here?
Meanwhile, Alison glanced at him and continued watching TV, seemingly unfazed by his presence. However, since he managed to enter her apartment once again, he must have guessed her pa**word, so it was time for her to change it.
“Is the apology statement ready?” Brayden was suppressing his anger.
Hearing that, Conner instinctively looked at Alison. He wasn’t sure whether Alison had written it or not since she had been upstairs the whole afternoon.
“Why are you panicking?” Alison answered casually. “You’ll get it sooner or later.”
“I want to see it before tomorrow night.” Brayden didn’t understand why she could still be so nonchalant about this. “If you don’t post it, you’ll bear the consequences.”
“Could you be any more annoying?” Alison snapped mercilessly. “I can’t even watch TV in peace. With that, she held her gla** of water and went upstairs.
Both Conner and Brayden of them were stunned, for they never expected Alison to get angry all of a sudden.
“Don’t worry, Boss. I’ll work overtime and write one later tonight. If Miss Lambert can’t finish hers tomorrow, I’ll send my version to her,” said Conner while pursing his lips. Hearing that, Brayden stared at him without saying a word.
Conner felt uneasy being stared at and rubbed his face while feeling slightly confused. “What’s wrong?”
He had washed his face after dinner, so there shouldn’t be anything on his face. “It’s late, so aren’t you going home for dinner?” Brayden’s gaze darkened as he looked at Conner.
“I’ve already eaten.” Conner had been enjoying his variety show too much that he had forgotten to deal with Brayden’s questions cautiously. “Miss Lambert ordered takeout after 6.00PM, and we ate together.”
Hearing that, Brayden’s gaze turned icy cold. He hadn’t had a meal with Alison before, yet Conner, who was tasked to supervise Alison, dared to have a good time here. Unfortunately, Conner still hadn’t realized what was going on and asked, “Haven’t you eaten yet?”
“You’re on cleaning duty tomorrow,” Brayden replied without answering his question.
“Do you mean it?” Conner asked.
“Do I look like I’m joking with you?”
“What about Miss Lambert…”
“I’ll supervise her personally.” Brayden’s thin lips tightened, emphasizing the word ‘personally’
Are You That Disappointed to See Me?
Upon hearing that, Conner suddenly realized why Brayden was being cold to him and said, “Okay, I’ll go to the company.” He didn’t hesitate and left. Of course, as someone who had a good time there, he still conscientiously took out the garbage before leaving.
After the door closed, Brayden looked around the room. He wondered whether Alison had planned on letting Conner stay overnight if he hadn’t come tonight. Without informing Alison beforehand, he went straight up via the lift and knocked on the door to her room.
Alison thought it was Conner and opened the door, not expecting Brayden to stay back. After all, he was probably only there to urge Conner’s progress. After realizing that it was Brayden, Alison didn’t say a word and tried to close the door.
However, this time, Brayden stopped her.
He saw the change in her gaze when she realized it was him, and he spoke sharply when he thought of Conner staying overnight with her tonight. “Are you disappointed to see me?”
“Yes, I am.” Alison said.
“Do you like Conner that much?”
“I like dealing with people who have a brain.”
“Alison!”
“If you have something to say, say it. If not, leave.”
“Are you angry just because I asked you to apologize?” Brayden brought up the issue again. “Why didn’t you consider the consequences when you tried to defame Julia online?”
Alison was lost for words upon hearing that. How she wished someone would take him away. Her silence; made Brayden feel uncomfortable, for he would rather her argue with him or scold him instead of ignoring him like this. At this moment, his phone rang.
When he saw his brother’s name on the caller ID, he frowned and went to the balcony in the study before answering the phone. “What’s up?”
“Can’t I give you a call for no reason, Brayden?” Bradley Cornell spoke cheerfully as he teased.
“One more word of nonsense, and I’ll throw you to Annexia.” Brayden’s words were cold.
Hearing that, Bradley chuckled lightly. He continued casually, “If you throw me to Annexia, Grandpa will have to break your legs.”
“What’s up? Brayden asked again. They rarely contacted each other, and Bradley wouldn’t have called him
for no reason.
“Grandpa asked me to show some concern for your love life.” Bradley’s carefree tone sounded. “I heard from Conner that you divorced Alison for your first love, is that right?” Brayden was speechless.
Bradley then added, “To be honest, I’m all for your divorce. After all, given your dull personality, Alison will be at a disadvantage if she stays with you.” His remarks made Brayden speechless again.
With that, Bradley continued, “Coincidentally, I have a few good friends who are reliable and considerate. I’ll introduce them to Alison later. My friends would be hitting the jackpot if she’s interested in them. After looking into my friends, they have no lingering feelings toward their first love or ex-girlfriends. What’s
more, they are very loyal to their partners. Most importantly, once they get together, they’ll unconditionally believe in the person they love Bradley chattered away and wasn’t afraid of offending his brother.
Hearing that, Brayden tightened his grip on the phone as his breaths became heavy. He knew this guy well. Since young. Bradley was the kind of person who meant what he said.
“We haven’t divorced yet, Brayden said in a deep voice.
“Isn’t it almost done? The one-week cooling-off period will be over soon.” Bradley’s voice was very pleasant, and he sounded like a youthful teenager. “Since you’ll be getting back with your first love right after that, wouldn’t it be fair for Alison to have suitors too?”
“Are you asking for trouble?” Brayden’s gaze darkened.
“I’m just trying to be kind and analyze it for you. I’ll have to say, only your first love likes your personality” Bradley wasn’t afraid of offending him. “Nowadays, girls like men who know how to spoil them. Take my friend’s case, for example. When his girlfriend was bullied, he immediately rushed over. When those people asked him if he was being reasonable, he told them he was there to support her, not to reason with them. Bradley chattered away, saying. “The girl was moved to tears after hearing what he said.”
Hearing that, Brayden furrowed his brows slightly as his thoughts drifted back to the past. Alisort’s attitude toward him seemed to have changed ever since he answered that phone call from Julia. Before that, she had been very kind to him, and he had taken good care of her to the point where others envied their relationship.
“Alright, I won’t bother you anymore,” Bradley said after saying what he intended to. “I’ve shown concern for your love life, and if Grandpa asks, don’t say I didn’t mention it.”
“Are you sure you’re concerned?” Brayden asked him.
Hearing that, Bradley laughed heartily. “Do you want me to fly back and give you a hug?”
“Get lost,” Brayden answered bluntly.
