Chapter 58 Do You Believe This Yourself?
He hadn’t seen her acting this obediently in a long time. Although it was the result he wanted, there was a sense of indescribable discomfort in his heart.
Meanwhile, Conner bravely expressed his thoughts to Alison after Brayden left, saying, “Miss Lambert, why did you agree to apologize? Aren’t you just taking the blame for someone else?”
“Taking the blame?”
“Isn’t that the case?”
“Yes.” Alison forgave Conner for what he had done before. “However, your boss was adamant that I did it.”
“Why don’t you explain it to him again?” Conner couldn’t bear to see his idol take the blame. “Explain it to him a few more times, and he’ll eventually believe you.”
“Do you believe that yourself?” Alison gazed at him.
No, thought Conner to himself, immediately denying it in secret since Brayden was acting like a mad dog.
“You can sleep in that room tonight.” Alison casually pointed in a direction. “Deal with your own change of clothes.”
“Sleep?” Conner asked, feeling rather confused.
“Didn’t Brayden ask you to monitor me until I post an apology on Twitter?” Alison spoke calmly. “Well, I don’t plan on posting anything today.”
Conner was stunned. Is this even possible?
“The kitchen is over there. There is milk and some fruit in the refrigerator. If you’re hungry, just get yourself some takeout,” instructed Alison.
“Miss Lambert!” Conner called out to her. Hearing that, Alison glanced at him.
Conner pursed his lips and carefully thought about what to say before he finally spoke up. “I will go to Boss and explain the situation to him. I’ll tell him that you did not do it, and if he doesn’t believe me, I will investigate the matter thoroughly and provide him with evidence.”
“There’s no need for that.” Alison refused his offer. Although she had promised to apologize, it didn’t mean that she was apologizing for this matter. Previously, she once said that if Brayden continued to cause trouble because of Julia’s matter, she wouldn’t hesitate to expose their affair. Conner couldn’t bear to watch them like this.
Nonetheless, Alison didn’t stay to chat and went upstairs after exchanging a few words.
Once the matter between Brayden and Julia was exposed, Cornell Corporation would be affected. Since Barry treated her well, she thought she should inform him about this matter in advance. After learning about everything, Barry didn’t blame Alison and simply sighed. Since things had come to this, he didn’t want to deal with his incompetent grandson anymore.
After hanging up the phone, Alison sent a message to her a**istant. Her text read, ‘Pay attention to Yulia’s resources. If Cornell Corporation interferes, secure it for her
After dealing with that, she called James since he was better at handling some matters than her.
“Aly!” James’ tone was very cheerful. He was very happy whenever he talked to Alison.
“Are you busy?”
“Not at all.”
“Help me with something.” Alison was straightforward with him. “I need you to write an apology letter in my tone. As for the specifics, I’ll send them to you later,”
James was a little stunned. He paused briefly before asking, “An apology letter? To whom?”
“Julia.”
James was speechless upon hearing that. He had seen the viral tweet, and after linking it with the previous. events and the pictures attached to the tweet, he suddenly realized something. “Why do you have to apologize to her? She was the one who meddled in your relationship in the first place.”
“It’s not a real apology,” Alison explained. “I’m just helping the netizens who love to watch drama. understand the truth of the matter. I’ll send you the specific details later.”
“Okay.”
After hearing that her intention wasn’t to apologize, James felt relieved. She couldn’t be wronged, and they couldn’t let that happen. After Alison sent him the details. James was furious.
Brayden is such a jerk. How could he let Alison help him whitewash his first love? He was furious. The
consequence of his anger was that he wrote a satirical apology letter in Alison’s tone. Of course, he also put a little bit of his own emotion into it.
That night, when Alison and Conner were having dinner, Brayden called.
Conner put down his cutlery and answered the phone. “Yes, Boss?”
“Why hasn’t she released the apology statement yet?” Brayden had already returned to the villa in Emperor Gardens and was sitting in the study on the second floor.
“We’re still working on it.”
“Do you need the whole afternoon to write it?”
“The previous versions weren’t very good, so I asked Miss Lambert to rewrite them a few times.” Conner looked at Alison guiltily and lied with a straight face, “Now she’s mad at me.”
Hearing that, Brayden was speechless and retorted, “I see you’ve gotten braver, eh?”
“Shall I ask the editorial department to draft one instead?” Conner asked tentatively, knowing that Brayden wouldn’t agree to it. “It’s difficult writing an apology statement, and it’s easy to make mistakes.”
“I’m giving you one more day.” Brayden frowned as he spoke. “I want to see the statement before tomorrow night.”
Conner immediately agreed, saying, “Okay.”
After hanging up the phone, Alison stated, “You could have just told him that I haven’t started writing it.
“Given Boss’ personality, he would be furious if I spoke frankly Conner pushed his gla**es up and said, “Putting it that way would be better for everyone, and it’ll save a lot of trouble.”
Suddenly, Conner’s phone rang. Upon checking, he received a message from Brayden that read, ‘Send me what she wrote before’
Seeing that, Conner stiffened and quickly replied. “We’ve deleted it already…”
You can retrieve it from your history, can’t you?”
‘Miss Lambert wrote it on a text file, so we don’t have any records of it.
After texting Conner, Brayden threw his phone on the desk and felt that something was amiss. Upon recalling Conner’s admiration for Alison when he saw her hacking skills, he grabbed his coat from the office chair and took his car before heading to the neighborhood where Alison lived. By the time he arrived, it was already past 9.00PM.
At that moment, Conner was watching a variety show while sitting on the couch. He had never felt so relaxed and comfortable ever since becoming Brayden’s a**istant. Alison, who went downstairs to get some water, glanced at the TV.
“Miss Lambert, do you want to come over and watch?” Conner moved over. “It’s more comfortable to sit here.”
“It’s fine.” Alison was just getting some water and taking a short break. “I’ll watch for half an hour.” Conner didn’t say much after that.
Just like that, the two of them watched TV together. It was a funny variety show, and watching it always put Conner in a good mood. On the other hand. Alison felt more relaxed after joining in, for she was getting a headache after spending the afternoon reviewing projects from Lambert International and Cornell Corporation. After about ten minutes, there was a ringing sound coming from the biometric door lock.
At this moment, the variety show happened to be at its funniest scene, so Alison and Conner were deeply engrossed in it. Thus, they didn’t pay much attention to the sound that came from outside the door. When Brayden walked in, his blood boiled when he saw Alison and Conner watching TV together. He stood there with his suit draped on his arm while glaring at them. “What are you guys doing?”
