Chapter 53 Giving Her a Taste of Being Cheated On

“Alright, you two, stop talking about women. Kian didn’t want to hear anything about that anymore. Can we discuss something else?”

“Have you resolved your problem?” Brayden would always drag his friends down whenever he was in a bad mood.

Hearing that, Kian stopped pouring a drink, casually responding as if nothing happened. “Only something that troubles you can be called a problem. What I have isn’t even worth mentioning,” he remarked.

“Have you found out who the child in her stomach belongs to?” Brayden continued to provoke him.

Suddenly, Kian slammed the drink down on the table, finally overwhelmed by his emotions. “How is that possible? You know how chaotic that circle is. The director, the producer, her fellow actors from the same series… She doesn’t even know whose child it is.”

At this moment, both Brayden and Raymond didn’t know what to say.

After some time, Raymond said, “Come on, the situation isn’t as exaggerated as what you’ve described. I think she’s a dedicated and talented actress.”

“Every woman is good in your eyes.” Kian lashed out, his anger fully ignited. “Whether it’s her or Alison, you think everyone you meet is good.”

Raymond had no comeback.

As Kian lifted his drink from the table and downed it in one go, he finally managed to suppress some of the restlessness in his heart. Whenever the thought of someone else being the father of the child in his wife’s stomach, his chest would feel suffocated.

“If you care so much, why don’t you get a divorce?” Raymond commented sharply. “It seems like she’s quite eager to leave you.”

At his words, Kian’s eyes were filled with a chilling glint as he blurted, “If we get divorced, how can I give her a taste of being cheated on like what she did to me?”

“You’re insane.” Raymond summed it up in two words.

Kian was in no mood to stay any longer, let alone discuss anything. Thus, he stood up and said to Brayden, “I’m heading back first. You guys can continue drinking”

As he spoke, he seemed to remember something. He took out a mini bottle of perfume from his pocket and sprayed it on himself. Then, he took out a brand-new lipstick, applied it to his hand, and spread it evenly before pressing it against his collar. With that, a lipstick mark appeared.

His actions left both Raymond and Brayden bewildered. Brayden furrowed his brows, feeling uncomfortable with the overwhelming scent of the perfume. “What are you doing?”

“Giving her a taste of being cheated on,” Kian replied seriously, throwing away the perfume and lipstick.

“Well, your approach is rather unique,” said Raymond.

At the same time, Brayden commented, “You have too much free time on your hands, huh?”

“I can’t find a woman just to borrow some lipstick and perfume, can I?” Kian still carried a nonchalant

expression, showing no signs of embarra**ment. Since she’s been unfaithful to me once, I’ll make her experience the taste of being cheated on multiple times,

“If she no longer has feelings for you, no matter how many times you cheat on her, it won’t affect her one bit. But if she still loves you, your actions might agitate her. Pregnant women shouldn’t experience significant emotional fluctuations as it can affect the baliy,’ explained Raymond.

When Kian heard that, his body stiffened, but he quickly dismissed it with a casual remark, saying, “Well, it’s not my baby. I don’t care if it’s affected or not. He left right after saying that.

However, both Raymond and Brayden noticed him wiping off the lipstick mark from his collar as he

walked out.

“Let’s go.” Raymond said to Brayden.

At this moment, Brayden’s gaze fell on the lipstick and perfume, his eyes darkening slightly. “You go ahead

“Alright.” Raymond put on his mask and hat before leaving.

It was already 11.00PM when Alison finished her conversation with Charles and went home to take a shower. As she was about to go to sleep, the buzzing vibration of her phone caught her attention. She picked up the call and put it on speaker. “Conner?”

“Yes, it’s me.” Conner glanced at his boss sitting in the back seat and mustered up the courage to say, “I have something I’d like to discuss with you. Are you at home right now?”

“Yeah, I am,” she replied. She still had a good impression of Conner. After all, he dared to fight against Brayden, the villain.

At this moment, Conner was already crying in his heart while apologizing to her countless times in his mind. “I’ll come up to meet you, then.”

“Alright.” With that, the call ended.

As he pressed his lips together, his gaze fell on Brayden. “Boss, I’ve done what you asked me to.”

“I’ll forget about you ratting on me. If I catch you another time, you will be fired from Cornell Corporation,” said Brayden as he draped his suit jacket over his arm, only leaving his white shirt and suit pants on.

“Understood.” Conner nodded.

Brayden then opened the car door and got out, walking toward the building where Alison stayed.

Suddenly, Conner called out to him, “Wait!”

Brayden stopped in his tracks. His chiseled face, accentuated by his white shirt, made him exude a cool and restrained aura.

“Why don’t I book a room nearby for you to freshen up and change before meeting Miss Lambert?” Conner suggested while briefly gazing at the lipstick mark on Brayden’s shirt collar.

When his boss called him at 9.00PM and asked him to pick him up, he didn’t hesitate and went over right

away, but he never expected to see a lipstick mark on Brayden’s collar, let alone the smell of perfume. That completely shattered his perspective on things.

Even when Boss was with Miss Shaw, there was never a trace of lipstick on him. Apart from patting each other on the back for comfort, they rarely had any physical contact. This time, there is lipstick and a strong scent of perfume. They must’ve been extremely intimate!

“Is she the president of the country?” Brayden glanced at Conner with a cold gaze, his words dripping with sarcasm. “Do I have to clean myself up before meeting her?”

“That’s not what I meant. It’s just that there’s a lipstick mark on your clothes,” Conner said honestly as he pointed at the mark. “Also, there’s a strong scent of perfume. It might not be appropriate to meet Miss Lambert in this state.”

“It doesn’t matter.” This was the effect Brayden was deliberately aiming for.

In reality, he didn’t even know why he was imitating Kian, but when he heard those words from Raymond, he suddenly wanted to know if Alison cared about him even in the slightest.

People were contradictory; even if he didn’t like her to the extent that he didn’t want to see her, he foolishly did such a stupid thing in pursuit of an answer.

While thinking about this, he took a long stride forward. With his straight back, broad shoulders, and narrow waist, he had the figure of a perfect model.

Seeing this, Conner gave himself a facepalm. Forget it! There’s no need for me to persuade him anymore. Miss Lambert is about to divorce Boss anyway.

Meanwhile, Alison had put on comfortable home pajamas, looking graceful and serene. Just seeing her could calm even the most restless heart.

When she heard the knock on the door, she walked over and opened it.

She had been considering installing a smart peephole camera, but considering that she was only staying here for a short time, she couldn’t be bothered to do it. As such, when she opened the door and saw Brayden, there was a barely perceptible crease between her eyebrows, displaying her displeasure to the fullest extent.

“Why are you here?” she asked directly.

“I asked Conner to call you,” Brayden said, draping his suit jacket over his left arm. While donned in his white shirt, he appeared even more refined than usual. “There’s something I want to talk to you about.”

Hearing that, Alison didn’t know what to say, for the last person she wanted to see right now was him. Also, that was the last thing she wanted to hear from him.

Chapter 1 Wedding Night

“It's getting late. Let's go to bed.” The man's deep voice pulled Calliope Gingrich out of her reverie. She raised her eyes to meet his dark gaze, which seemed to be overflowing with a multitude of feelings that she could not comprehend. Calliope gripped the hem of her dress as her heart started to race in anticipation. After entering the room, she carefully lowered herself onto the edge of the bed and stayed there, her body rigid. As time ticked by, she made no movement to take off her wedding dress, instead choosing to keep it on. It wasn't until the man stepped out of the shower that it finally dawned on her that they would be spending their wedding night together. Calliope was at a loss when it came to interacting with her new husband. After all, she had been thrust into the role of his wife, taking the place of someone else. As the illegitimate daughter of a wealthy family, she had to marry a poor man in place of her sister, Penelope Gingrich, in order to fulfill the marriage arrangement that had been made by the previous generation. In exchange for her acquiescence, she was promised a considerable sum as her dowry. With the money, she could cover both her mother's medical expenses and her younger brother's school fees. This was the only feasible way for their family to make ends meet. Calliope took a deep breath and made her way to the bathroom timidly. “I-I'll go take a shower.” The man's gaze turned dark at her words.

Review by Marrying The Undercover Magnate:

4.5 out of 5

This story gets a 4.5 out of 5.
This book was fantastic! I really enjoy fantasy stories… greek mythology, Billionaire, Romance vampires, I love it all… and this book had it all and then some.  Anything fantasy or mythological, was in this book.  I really enjoyed how Cornell was able to bring them all together in a way that was seamless and natural (or at least as natural as made-up things can be).  What I mean is that when I learned these mythological characters were all in it I thought it was a recipe for disaster, but actually it works brilliantly. The storyline was incredibly interesting and well thought out.  I imagine this story required an awful lot of planning and research.  As I was reading it I thought to myself that this must have taken some time to put together.  When a lot of planning and research is involved there are usually plot-holes (contradictions/missing information), but not in this case, I saw no errors in the complex plot.
The characters were fantastic.  They were relatable and the overall story itself was an incredibly interesting read.  The ONLY reason I am not giving this story a full 5 out of 5 is because of the ‘ease of reading’ factor.  I am an avid reader, I love reading, but even I found this story a little difficult to keep up with. It required my full attention and if I left it more than a day between reading chapters, I was lost. I had to go back in the book and re-read parts just to ‘get my bearings’.  This coupled with the volume of characters made the story a little difficult to read, BUT it was well worth reading. If you are a Billionaire, lover, you HAVE TO read this book! I guarantee, you will love it. Perfect for adults (16+ due to the content) who enjoy:
  • Billionaire
  • Mythology: Greek mythology and mythological characters (Billionaire, Love, Romance, vampires)
  • Learning from reading
  • Getting lost in a complex storyline.
