Chapter 37 No Violence
Calliope also couldn’t sleep throughout the entire night because she was worried about Caleb and bothered by Dominic’s “first crush.” Furthermore, the couch wasn’t comfortable to sleep on.
It wasn’t until it was almost dawn that she gradually slipped into a slumber.
However, not long after, she was awakened by noises in the room.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Caleb trailing behind Dominic, who was all dressed up. They were getting ready to leave the house.
“Where are you two going?” Calliope was shocked because Dominic was clad in all-black attire and was wearing a cap.
Not only that, he was holding a stick he used for his workout sessions.
I got a bad feeling about this. She questioned, “Are you going to start a Dominic stared at her silently.
fight?”
It seems like I’m right! Ever since we’re married, he has been getting into fights because of me. Every time, I find myself afraid something will happen to him. No matter what, I must stop him from getting into another fight! Panicking, she wanted to dissuade him, but he spoke first.
“Don’t interfere,” he warned. “If I don’t teach these high-school bullies a lesson, they’ll never learn!”
“Is violence the only way to solve this problem?”
“Do you have a better idea?” Gazing at her coldly, he argued, “If reasoning with them works, this world will be much more peaceful. Don’t worry. I won’t get out of line. I’m just going to stand for Cay in front of those bullies so they won’t dare to mess with him anymore. Since he’s your cousin, he’s my family, too. I can’t just watch him get bullied and do nothing.”
up
A warm feeling bubbled in her heart as she held his hand and stared at him. Moments of silence later, she said, “Don’t act so rashly. I have a plan.”
“What?” He narrowed his eyes. “What kind of plan?”
Smiling, Calliope waved her phone in front of him. “If you fight violence with violence, the troubles will never end. Meanwhile, my plan can solve the problem permanently, but Cay will have to bear with it once more. Can you do that?”
Dominic hesitated for a while before putting his stick away and changing into casual attire. After they all finished their breakfast, the couple sent Caleb to school.
Calliope asked Caleb to walk ahead while she and Dominic followed behind, maintaining some distance away from him.
Before Caleb even reached the school gates, a few high school students with cigarettes in their mouths surrounded him and pushed him around while wearing malicious smiles. The moment he saw them, Caleb trembled in fear before he was quietly dragged to a secluded corner by them.
Calliope and Dominic rapidly followed them and hid at the side.
Soon, the bullies beat Caleb while he squatted in the middle of the group, crying and wailing in pain.
Enduring heartache, Calliope chose a suitable spot to record the process with her phone.
Once she was done recording, she glanced at Dominic. Without delay, Dominic dashed toward Caleb and knocked the bullies to the ground with a few kicks and punches.
Caleb suffered a few more injuries to his face, but none were severe. Meanwhile, Dominic shielded the teenager behind him as he swept his violent glare across the bullies’ faces.
“You have some nerve to get a helper, Caleb!” The leader of the bullies, a fatty, arrogantly threatened, “Just you wait! I dare you to stay here while I call for reinforcements! I’m going to kill you two!”
“I’II say that’s unlikely.” Calliope stepped forward as she spoke calmly. “In fact, all of you should be more worried about getting punished by your parents when they learn about this.”
