Chapter 28
When Kara was mentioned, Gail got angry for no reason.
Opposite her was her boss, and he was ruthless. No matter how angry she was, she couldn’t show it.
Suppressing the anger in her heart, Gail said reluctantly, “Kara asked for leave today.”
“Go ask her to come,” the man on the sofa said
indifferently, “Who allowed her to ask for leave? Has she earned five million?”
Gail gritted her teeth and raised her voice, “Mr. Brown! Kara is sick!”
“You seem very dissatisfied with me?”
“No.” Gail’s complexion changed, and she said hastily, “Kara fell ill in the staff dormitory last night. If I hadn’t arrived in time, she would have died. When the ambulance took her to the hospital, she had a high fever. The doctor said it would really be hopeless if she hadn’t been brought to the hospital in time.”
Shepard was surprised when he heard that Kara was ill.
One second, two seconds, three seconds… Shepard suddenly stood up.
Without saying a word, he turned and walked out of the office. When he passed Gail, he asked, “Which hospital?”
What did Mr. Brown mean?
Gail subconsciously said, “Central Hospital, Ward 7012 of the Inpatient Department.”
Kara’s condition was not very good at the time. The doctor said that she should be on fluids for several days before she could recover thoroughly. In order to give Kara a good
recuperation environment, Gail didn’t think about saving money, so she got a ward for Kara.
Watching Shepard walk out, Gail suddenly said, “Mr. Brown, I just came back from the hospital. When I left, she just fell asleep.”
She was telling Shepard not to go to the hospital so as not to disturb Kara’s rest.
“After work, I’ll make some soup for her and go to visit her,” Gail continued.
Shepard didn’t stop, “You don’t need to go. I’ll have someone make soup and bring it to her.”
So… Mr. Brown, what do you mean? Gail watched Shepard disappear around the corner, confused.
At the downstairs of Grande Entertainment Club, Shepard got into the car and made a phone call, “Benjamin, go to the Delicious Restaurant, buy some light liquid food, and send it to Ward 7012 of the Inpatient Department of the Central Hospital.”
“Oh…who is sick?”
“Don’t ask so much and just buy it.” Shepard suddenly thought of something and ordered on the phone, “Deliver it within half an hour.”
“Damn! Am I a superman? Am I going to fly over there?” Half an hour? Shepard was insane. Benjamin almost cursed. He was about to complain to Shepard on the phone, but Shepard hung up the phone mercilessly.
Damn!
Benjamin put on his clothes casually and rushed downstairs.
While rushing downstairs, he called Delicious Restaurant, “…Yes, I want these, and I will pick them up in a quarter of an hour. Be quick.”
After he hung up the phone, he secretly cursed Shepard.
Who is sick? Why is Shepard making such a fuss?
Even when Bonnie was sick when she was alive, Shepard had never been so anxious.
Shepard walked into Kara’s ward and nodded affirmatively to the single ward Gail had chosen…Gail was sensible.
But Gail hadn’t gotten Kara a nice ward for his sake at all.
He walked towards Kara’s hospital bed. He stared at the woman on the hospital bed, and even he didn’t notice the complexity in his black eyes.
Shepard had never expected that a person would change so much after three years.
Her once delicate became a little unrecognizable, and her skin was dull without its luster. When he looked closely, he could still find the facial features of the daughter of the Smith family, but it was no longer the same as before.
Puffy bags under the eyes, messy eyebrows, chapped and dry lips, rough skin… It had only been three years!
At this time, the person on the hospital bed moved slightly, turned her head sideways, and the bangs covering her forehead slid down, revealing the scar.
Shepard’s eyes sharpened instantly. He frowned and looked at the obtrusive scar for a long time. He couldn’t help stretching out his hand. As soon as he touched the scar on Kara’s forehead, she woke up.
She immediately dodged his hand in horror!
Why did he come? What does he want to do again?!
Shepard looked unhappy.
Dodging him?
In disbelief, Shepard stretched out his hand towards Kara again… Kara almost subconsciously pulled up the quilt and suddenly hid her head under the quilt.
Shepard looked furiously at the woman who was curled up under the quilt. His face was frighteningly cold!
This damned woman was indeed dodging him!
He stared at the woman curled up under the quilt
motionlessly, and could vaguely see that she was shivering underneath.
After Kara hid under the quilt, she began to regret it. Why was she hiding under the quilt? If Shepard wanted to hurt her, it wouldn’t help if she hid in outer space. What was the use of hiding under the quilt?
Shepard pulled Kara’s quilt away with his big hand. His voice was suddenly icy cold, and he asked slowly, “Are you dodging me?”
