Alison’s Identity of Romance Chapter 6

Chapter 6 Infuriating Me Won’t Do You Any Good
“Poor me, then,” Alison blurted. “What a pity it is that my husband of two years never knew the real side of me.”
Brayden frowned.
This brat just won’t give up mocking me, huh?!
“Come home with me.” He loosened his tie, grabbed her bag, and dragged her out by the wrist.
Alison was taken aback for a moment, prompting Brayden to come to a halt as well.
Their gaze landed simultaneously on the bag he was holding.
Is he treating me like he treats Julia? That was the first thing that came to Alison’s mind.
Without further explanation, Brayden quickened his pace and strode away.
Julia, who was in the ward, witnessed the whole scene. The tenderness on her face disappeared instantly, and her palm had also turned red due to how hard her fingers dug into them.
Before long, the door to the ward was pushed open.
Julia’s friend came in and asked doubtfully, “Didn’t Alison hire someone to run you down? Why is Mr. Cornell—”
“It wasn’t her.” Julia furrowed her brows.
When it happened, she immediately a**umed it was Alison who did it. After all, she would replace her position as Brayden’s wife when she returned.
But based on Alison’s reaction earlier, things weren’t as simple as she thought.
Brayden got the same answer on his side.
After the driver picked them up, Brayden dragged Alison to sit in the back row.
Before he could even bring up the matters today, Conner called and told him his findings. “Boss, I’ve gotten the tech team to check on the IP address. The address logged in from the number isn’t in Riverton.”
“Got it.” Brayden’s orbs turned dark.
He felt his phone suddenly turning heavier than it should because he knew he had wronged Alison.
With all kinds of emotions intertwined, he looked sideways at the person leaning against the window. The sun shone through the window that was partially winded down, making the thin hair on her face visible.
She no longer looked as aggressive as she did just now. All of a sudden, she seemed to have turned into the kind and soft-spoken young lady she was before.
“Alison,” he called out to her while looking apologetic.
Alison overheard their conversation on the phone, so she commented lightly, “Don’t tell me you’re going to apologize.”
Brayden froze. Can’t we even have a proper conversation?
“Even if the IP address isn’t in Riverton, it doesn’t mean that I wasn’t the one who tried to hurt her,” Alison replied nonchalantly, but a hint of mockery was present in his voice. “What if I made someone else text the driver?”
Brayden knew she was just saying things out of anger.
He was about to apologize, but the words wouldn’t come out of his mouth.
After a few rounds of hesitation, he bit the bullet and blurted, “I know it wasn’t you.”
If she was the one who did it, she wouldn’t have been so calm in analyzing the authenticity of the evidence with them earlier.
The reason emotions clouded his head was due to his overconcern for Julia and Alison’s abnormal behavior in the past two days. Hence, he wronged her.
“OK.” Alison wasn’t bothered to entertain him.
Brayden was puzzled. That’s all?
He initially decided to stop after she accepted his apology, and at the thought of his harsh words directed to her in the parking lot, he pa**ed her a black card. “Here’s my main card. Just swipe it as much as you want if you’re not reconciled.”
“Alright.” Alison took it.
Brayden’s hand was still hung in mid-air. He was slightly taken aback as if he didn’t expect her to agree to it readily.
“What about your other cards?” Alison questioned all of a sudden.
Brayden’s aura was still cold, and upon hearing that, he turned to look at her abruptly. “What cards?”
“Because of your rude attitude toward me at the hospital, you must hand in all of your cards to me today to avoid similar incidents in the future.” He couldn’t fathom whether Alison was in a good or bad mood. “I’ll return them to you when we get a divorce.”
The driver was shocked to hear that, while Brayden cocked his brow.
“What? You can’t do that?” Alison countered.
“Know when to stop.” Brayden was slightly agitated now, causing the atmosphere in the car to become tense. “It was my fault for not being considerate today, but if it weren’t for your abnormal behavior in the past two days, I wouldn’t have made a mistake in judgment.”
Alison felt funny.
Is he blaming me right now?
“Is that so?”
“Yes.”
“Even if I behaved normally, you would still doubt me without hesitation when you knew Julia got into a car accident and you saw the chat record, wouldn’t you?” Alison sounded certain.
Brayden wanted to deny it, but he realized that she was right.
Alison tossed the card back at him and rubbed the space between her brows irritably.
What’s wrong with me? Why would I be in a bad mood because of someone who didn’t even matter to me? Haven’t I realized that Julia will always come first to him?
Brayden was dumbfounded when the card suddenly hit him. Before he could even speak, Alison spoke again, but her words weren’t directed at him.
“William, please drop me at the intersection ahead.”
“Sure.”
In a baritone voice, Brayden questioned, “Where are you going?”
“Get some walnuts for my brain.” Alison had calmed down, and she said the most provoking words in the flattest tone. “Before your stupidity becomes contagious and spreads to me.”
Brayden was infuriated!
Why did he never realize how capable she was of mocking people?!
“Don’t stop. Continue driving.”
William naturally obeyed his boss’ orders as he drove all the way to Emperor Gardens.
Brayden held his breath to prevent his anger from exploding, and the guilt he had for her completely dissipated.
Half an hour later, the car parked at the entrance.
Before Brayden even got out of the car, Alison had already entered the house. By the time he arrived at the living room, she was already in the bedroom.
He knew she went inside to change, so he waited for her.
Ten minutes later, Alison changed into loungewear and let her thin bangs fall down her forehead. It made her face look smaller and more delicate.
She wasn’t surprised that Brayden was still present. After all, she knew what he was here for.
“We’re going to the Cornell Residence at 6.00PM.” Brayden watched as she sat on the couch and added, “Get ready before that. I’ll tell William to pick you up.”
Alison grabbed the remote control and turned on the TV. “Nope.”
“Alison!”
“You were the one who broke the contract first, so don’t blame me.”
“I have priorities.” Brayden started finding her more and more distant. “What do you think is more important between shopping with you and Julia’s life?”
Alison switched to a channel playing a variety show and immediately felt a headache creeping up at the mention of Julia’s name.
Before today, she had always thought that Julia was kind, friendly, and someone who had a contagious smile, because after all, she was his first love.
Contrary to her expectations, she was just a cunning b*tch.
What a disappointment.
“Shopping is more important, of course,” Alison replied.
Brayden’s gaze turned colder as he spat, “Do you really have to provoke me?”
She went silent.
“If you want to get that sum of money when we divorce, then do as I say.” Brayden had lost his patience. “If you piss me off, don’t even dream of getting a penny.”

Book Synopsis:

Chapter 1 She's Back, So Let's Divorce

At night in Emperor Gardens, Riverton. In the spacious and bright living room, two people sat facing each other. Between them was a divorce agreement. The man wore a well-ironed suit, and he had beautiful features but a cold demeanor. The aura he exuded was so oppressive that the atmosphere around them felt tense. His cold gaze landed on the woman who was silently sitting opposite him, and his orbs were as dark as the night sky outside. "Let's get a divorce on Monday," Brayden Cornell uttered a**ertively in a cold and baritone voice. "Apart from the compensation in the divorce agreement, you can ask for anything else you need from me." "Why so sudden?" Alison Lambert spoke in such a hushed voice he nearly couldn't catch her. "Julia is back," he answered curtly. Of course, she knew who Julia was. After a short moment of silence, she replied, "Sure." Brayden was slightly taken aback as if he didn't expect her to agree to it so willingly. Flipping open the divorce agreement and skimming through the clauses, she was reminded of how she and Brayden met. Two years ago, they met at Nightingale Club. She visited the bar full of worries and bumped into Brayden, who was just dumped by his girlfriend. After taking two shots of drinks, they engaged in a pleasant conversation as if they'd been friends for years. There was no one-night stand, and they returned to their respective homes after enjoying each other's company. She saw him again three days later after that night, and when he brought his a**istant along to propose marriage to her, she agreed readily.
Alison's Identity of Romance

Review by Alison's:

4.5 out of 5

This story gets a 4.5 out of 5.
This book was fantastic! I really enjoy fantasy stories… greek mythology, Billionaire, Romance vampires, I love it all… and this book had it all and then some.  Anything fantasy or mythological, was in this book.  I really enjoyed how Cornell was able to bring them all together in a way that was seamless and natural (or at least as natural as made-up things can be).  What I mean is that when I learned these mythological characters were all in it I thought it was a recipe for disaster, but actually it works brilliantly. The storyline was incredibly interesting and well thought out.  I imagine this story required an awful lot of planning and research.  As I was reading it I thought to myself that this must have taken some time to put together.  When a lot of planning and research is involved there are usually plot-holes (contradictions/missing information), but not in this case, I saw no errors in the complex plot.
The characters were fantastic.  They were relatable and the overall story itself was an incredibly interesting read.  The ONLY reason I am not giving this story a full 5 out of 5 is because of the ‘ease of reading’ factor.  I am an avid reader, I love reading, but even I found this story a little difficult to keep up with. It required my full attention and if I left it more than a day between reading chapters, I was lost. I had to go back in the book and re-read parts just to ‘get my bearings’.  This coupled with the volume of characters made the story a little difficult to read, BUT it was well worth reading. If you are a Billionaire, lover, you HAVE TO read this book! I guarantee, you will love it. Perfect for adults (16+ due to the content) who enjoy:
  • Billionaire
  • Mythology: Greek mythology and mythological characters (Billionaire, Love, Romance, vampires)
  • Learning from reading
  • Getting lost in a complex storyline.
