Alison’s Identity of Romance Chapter 15

Alison’s Identity of Romance Chapter 15

Chapter 15 Too Little Information
Alison and Brayden stared at each other.
The room was filled with a chilly air as the looks on their faces blatantly showed their hostility toward each other.
She shuffled her way toward the stairs. She did not intend to say a single word to him at all. For the first time in her entire life, a freezing cold chill radiated from her.
“Halt,” Brayden shouted from behind her.
She pretended not to have heard him and continued walking.
He strode over with his long legs and blocked her way up. As he stared down at her, he asked in a voice that was as cold and distant as ever. “Shall we talk?”
“Sure,” she agreed.
They walked over to the couch. He took the initiative to move the remote control from the seat.
She did not say anything about his actions, however. Instead, she poured herself a gla** of water and took a sip before sitting down on the couch with the gla** still in her hand. “Well? Speak. What do you want to talk about?”
“What is your relationship with Charles Adkins?” He kept his eyes trained on her. He did not want to miss a single twitch on her face.
“Friends,” she replied bluntly.
“When did you two meet?” Brayden asked.
“When we were kids,” she answered honestly.
His eyes went cold. Her answers made him think she was someone who did not even know how to tell a lie. “His social life was decided at birth by the status of his family. How is it possible for you to have met him as a kid?”
Alison did not reply to him. In her mind, it felt like they were both talking on different wavelengths.
“You had best not feel anything untoward about him,” he cautioned. “He is not as harmless as he seems.”
“We are merely friends with no intent on taking it a step further,” she explained. “Please do not project your fantasies onto me. That is the most basic respect owed to anyone and everyone.”
His eyes darkened.
Sensing that Brayden was about to ask her another question, Alison decided to ask him a question. “Since this seems like an interrogation, I have a question for you. When did you meet Julia?”
He stared back at her in silence.
“She is not as simple as she seems. You best stay away from her,” she declared in a tone similar to his.
“Alison Lambert!”
That infuriated him once more.
She leaned back in her seat. By now, she was feeling rather calm.
“Julia and Charles are two completely unrelated individuals. Do not slander her name through him.” There was a heavy bite in his voice. He truly did not understand why she was so protective of Charles. “I leave you with one last reminder; if you wish to live a good life after our divorce, stay away from him.”
She immediately grabbed her phone and left the room as she felt that she was a fool to try and reason with someone who was in love.
Julia. It’s always Julia. If he cares so much about Julia, why did he marry me? Sc*mbag.
Brayden seethed but could only watch as the door to Alison’s room gently closed behind her. His heart burned with fury.
Meanwhile, Alison was unable to stay another moment longer in the house.
To be more exact, she could not stay with Brayden in peace.
She glanced at the plants outside her window and dialed a number on her phone. In a calm and natural tone, she said, “Hello, is this CleanMate? I need a place cleaned up. Yes, it’s just light dusting. I’ll be moving in tomorrow. Okay. I’ll send you the door code later.”
After ending the call, she sent them a message containing the door code to her two-story house in Riverton.
Riverton was a beautiful city with pleasant weather. It was a place especially suitable for vacation or when she wanted to take a break.
However, she had not stayed in it once after the renovations were finished.
After her divorce application tomorrow, she would have enough time to move out. That way, she did not have to live with an eyesore.
Brayden did not know what her plans were. In the meantime, he had ordered his men to look into her identity for some reason.
After thinking about the subject, he realized he did not know anything about her other than her name.
Conner worked hard for the entire afternoon. However, after all that effort, he found less information than what could be found listed on Alison’s identity card.
He felt so ashamed when he called Brayden to report that.
“Did you find anything?”
“I have.” Conner glanced down at the short sentence written on the paper in his hand and gulped. “There is too little information to be found though.”
Brayden did not hear the implied message. “Tell me.”
“Alison Lambert, female,” Conner recited as his heart trembled with fear.
Brayden was speechless with confusion. He waited a moment longer. When Conner did not say anything else, he frowned and coldly asked, “And?”
“And…” Conner pushed his spectacles higher on his nose multiple times out of nerves. “That’s all.”
Once more, Brayden was speechless with confusion.
His confusion intensified.
He shot to his feet. Displayed on the computer on his desk was all the information on Charles. “That’s it?”
“That is all. We have been investigating her the entire afternoon, but that is all we found. Her identification documents have more information than what we found.” Conner’s voice was very sheepish. “Could I ask you something, sir? Why are you looking into Mrs. Cornell?”
“Look harder.”
“We have. This is all we’ve found.”
“Are you absolutely certain?” Brayden was fuming.
After an entire afternoon, the only thing they found could be summarized in just three words.
“I’m sure,” Conner replied, hiding the distress he felt within.
Brayden was at a loss for words.
“Boss, could Mrs. Cornell be a super capable hacker who erased herself from the internet?” There was an elaborate drama playing out in Conner’s fantasies.
“Brain cells are important,” Brayden mocked.
“Imperia is a place where powerful figures hide in every corner. How do you know she’s not some secret prodigy?” By now, Alison was a genius in Conner’s mind.
It was near impossible for him not to find anything when investigating someone.
Brayden scowled. “Imperia?”
“What?” Conner asked in confusion.
“How did you know she’s from Imperia?”
“I looked at her documents when you got married,” Conner replied, showing off his incredible memory. “The address and number listed belong to Imperia.”
Brayden was stunned.
“Don’t tell me you never noticed that before,” Conner exclaimed.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Brayden had hung up.
He headed to his safe and pulled out his marriage certificate. He frowned when he read the information listed under Alison’s name.
She really was from Imperia…
Could she really have met Charles when they were children?
The moment that thought appeared in his mind, he immediately dismissed it. However, there was now a new urge in him; he had to meet her family once at least.
At that thought…
He flung his phone on the desk. After realizing it had been around 30 minutes since he last saw Alison, he went and knocked on her room door.
When she answered the door, she was in the middle of drying her hair with a towel. Drops of water rolled down her neck. The dark colors of her sleepwear emphasized the fairness of her skin. The few drops of water on her enticing collarbone made her look so innocent yet so very bewitching.
Sensing his breathing getting heavier, he looked away and straight into her clear, peach-blossom eyes.

Book Synopsis:

Chapter 1 She's Back, So Let's Divorce

At night in Emperor Gardens, Riverton. In the spacious and bright living room, two people sat facing each other. Between them was a divorce agreement. The man wore a well-ironed suit, and he had beautiful features but a cold demeanor. The aura he exuded was so oppressive that the atmosphere around them felt tense. His cold gaze landed on the woman who was silently sitting opposite him, and his orbs were as dark as the night sky outside. "Let's get a divorce on Monday," Brayden Cornell uttered a**ertively in a cold and baritone voice. "Apart from the compensation in the divorce agreement, you can ask for anything else you need from me." "Why so sudden?" Alison Lambert spoke in such a hushed voice he nearly couldn't catch her. "Julia is back," he answered curtly. Of course, she knew who Julia was. After a short moment of silence, she replied, "Sure." Brayden was slightly taken aback as if he didn't expect her to agree to it so willingly. Flipping open the divorce agreement and skimming through the clauses, she was reminded of how she and Brayden met. Two years ago, they met at Nightingale Club. She visited the bar full of worries and bumped into Brayden, who was just dumped by his girlfriend. After taking two shots of drinks, they engaged in a pleasant conversation as if they'd been friends for years. There was no one-night stand, and they returned to their respective homes after enjoying each other's company. She saw him again three days later after that night, and when he brought his a**istant along to propose marriage to her, she agreed readily.
Alison's Identity of Romance

Review by Alison's:

4.5 out of 5

This story gets a 4.5 out of 5.
This book was fantastic! I really enjoy fantasy stories… greek mythology, Billionaire, Romance vampires, I love it all… and this book had it all and then some.  Anything fantasy or mythological, was in this book.  I really enjoyed how Cornell was able to bring them all together in a way that was seamless and natural (or at least as natural as made-up things can be).  What I mean is that when I learned these mythological characters were all in it I thought it was a recipe for disaster, but actually it works brilliantly. The storyline was incredibly interesting and well thought out.  I imagine this story required an awful lot of planning and research.  As I was reading it I thought to myself that this must have taken some time to put together.  When a lot of planning and research is involved there are usually plot-holes (contradictions/missing information), but not in this case, I saw no errors in the complex plot.
The characters were fantastic.  They were relatable and the overall story itself was an incredibly interesting read.  The ONLY reason I am not giving this story a full 5 out of 5 is because of the ‘ease of reading’ factor.  I am an avid reader, I love reading, but even I found this story a little difficult to keep up with. It required my full attention and if I left it more than a day between reading chapters, I was lost. I had to go back in the book and re-read parts just to ‘get my bearings’.  This coupled with the volume of characters made the story a little difficult to read, BUT it was well worth reading. If you are a Billionaire, lover, you HAVE TO read this book! I guarantee, you will love it. Perfect for adults (16+ due to the content) who enjoy:
  • Billionaire
  • Mythology: Greek mythology and mythological characters (Billionaire, Love, Romance, vampires)
  • Learning from reading
  • Getting lost in a complex storyline.
