Alison’s Identity of Romance Chapter 11

Chapter 11 Accidental Meeting
“Okay.” After Alison agreed, she hung up and sent him the time and location on WhatsApp.
As soon as she finished sending the message, there was a knock at the door. It was accompanied by Brayden’s voice. “Open the door. Someone’s looking for you.”
After hearing that, she threw her phone on the bed and walked over to open the door. Her tone lacked the usual gentleness and was now cold and indifferent. “What’s up?”
“Grandpa’s looking for you.” Then, he handed her the phone. “He said he couldn’t reach you because your line was busy.”
Alison paused, guessing it might have been because she was on the phone with Charles earlier. So, she took the phone and her voice softened. “Grandpa.”
“Is it too late to call you? I hope I’m not disturbing you.”
“No, it’s okay.”
“Earlier, you and Brayden left in a hurry, and I forgot to tell you that I still haven’t solved the chess problem you left me last time—”
Soon, the two of them chatted on the phone.
Meanwhile, Brayden was utterly uninterested in their conversation. Since Barry and Alison got along well, Barry rarely looked for his grandson. The most Barry ever said to him was something along the lines of, “Aly is better than you,” “Your chess skills are no match for Aly’s,” “How could I have such a stupid grandson,” and so on. Moreover, Brayden observed that she had become Barry’s “granddaughter” while he received various criticisms from his grandfather. Thinking about this, Brayden glanced involuntarily at the person talking patiently and gently to his grandfather. I’ve experienced the same gentleness and patience for the past two years. As he was thinking about it, the phone on Alison’s bed vibrated.
Inadvertently, he glanced over, but before he could get a good look at what was on the screen, she quickly picked up the device and turned off the screen. Her action was so instantaneous that he was unable to respond.
“Grandpa and I finished our conversation.” After saying that, she returned his phone to him, looking calm. “Your phone.”
However, Brayden didn’t take it; his eyes were still fixed on the phone behind Alison’s back. Although he didn’t see the content clearly, he seemed to have seen Charles’ name.
“You don’t want it?” She still held out the phone to him.
At that moment, Brayden’s gaze deepened, but he didn’t reach for his phone. “Who texted you earlier?”
“That’s my privacy,” Alison answered calmly.
After hearing that, he blurted, “I’m your husband.”
Still, she didn’t say anything and just stared at him.
At that moment, he only wore a white shirt on his upper body, looking slightly more refined than usual. He had also rolled up the cuffs twice, exposing his fair arms. Nevertheless, whatever he did, he could still pack a punch. Ultimately, he understood the meaning behind her gaze and uttered, “As long as we haven’t received the divorce certificate, I have the right to know who you’re in contact with.”
“Mr. Cornell, you may not be familiar with the law.” While saying that, Alison shoved the phone in his hand. “Even if you are my husband, you don’t have that right without my consent.”
“Alison.” Brayden looked cold, and he knew what kind of person Charles was. Although we are not in the same social circle, I know he is a ruthless man who will never hesitate to sell someone out and has never given anyone an out. Hence, she is risking her life by a**ociating with him!
“Give me your phone.”
“Do you want me to go and grab it myself?” His gaze deepened after he said that.
“If you want me to give it to you, sure.” Alison didn’t want to fight with him, so she made an excuse. “Then, you have to show me your phone too.”
On the other hand, Brayden didn’t give it much thought; he simply wanted to know if the person she was contacting was Charles. “Sure.”
“I’ll check your chat history with Julia.” She deliberately gave him a reason so that he would refuse.
After hearing that, he pursed his thin lips into a straight line and ultimately refused after a brief thought. “No.”
“Well, then, I won’t give mine to you either.” Her attitude was unequivocal.
He remained silent for some time, his dark eyes staring at hers as if trying to decipher something. Ultimately, he left with his phone after saying, “Do as you wish.”
Soon, the two of them parted on bad terms.
Alison didn’t care about Brayden’s anger and promptly went to bed after closing the door.
The following day, they didn’t talk much. He made a phone call in the afternoon and left the house while she went to meet Charles.
Meanwhile, both had arranged to meet at the same restaurant.
When she arrived, Charles was already there.
Charles and Brayden were diametrically opposed. Brayden exuded a cold and distant vibe, while Charles had a polite smile for everyone. Nobody could guess what Charles was thinking with that grin, and it didn’t matter if he was angry, happy, or disliked someone. Hence, James and others had even given him the nickname “Charles the Fox.” Nonetheless, such a person was exceptionally kind to her.
“Why did you come so early?” Alison pushed open the private room door and saw him. Her face was relaxed and natural. “Didn’t we agree on 12.30PM?”
“Why do you think so?” Charles curved his lips. His handsome and refined face was framed by gla**es, and he wore a casual gray suit that made him look like the perfect boy next door with good grades and a pleasant demeanor.
At the same time, in the corridor outside the private room, Brayden walked with two men. They were both extremely handsome, one appearing sly and lazy and the other gentle and benign.
“Brayden, isn’t that your soon-to-be ex-wife who just went in?” The sly one hooked his lips and spoke with a hint of teasing and playfulness. “If I remember correctly, the one who booked this private room today is the heir of Imperia’s Adkins Family and a top legal expert, Charles Adkins.”
Brayden was stunned upon hearing that. Suddenly, he stopped and turned back to look at them. His eyes deepened as he asked, “Who?”
“Charles Adkins,” the sly man repeated.
Brayden’s gaze locked onto the door. Then, with almost no hesitation or thought, he took long strides toward the private room. He could only see images of Alison getting cozy with Charles in his mind. So, she got involved with Charles!
“Do we need to stop him?” the benign man asked.
“Why stop him when there’s a good show to watch?” the sly man answered with great interest, his hands in his pockets.
At that moment, Brayden opened the door with a chill running down his spine. As soon as he entered, he saw Alison and Charles sitting side by side, looking like they had a great relationship.
On the other hand, the noise at the door caught their attention, so they looked over in unison. When they saw Brayden, Alison paused momentarily, then asked with confusion, “Brayden?”
After hearing the name, Charles stared at him.
Brayden met his gaze briefly, but his expression was as aloof as ever. After that, he closed the door again with a lame excuse. “Sorry, wrong room.”
She was speechless by his response. Could he come up with a less ridiculous excuse?
“Are you not going to give him an explanation?” Charles asked, tilting his head slightly.
“There’s nothing to explain.” Alison was already fed up with Brayden’s behavior. “If you see him later, don’t reveal my identity. I’m just an ordinary worker in his eyes now.”

Book Synopsis:

Chapter 1 She's Back, So Let's Divorce

At night in Emperor Gardens, Riverton. In the spacious and bright living room, two people sat facing each other. Between them was a divorce agreement. The man wore a well-ironed suit, and he had beautiful features but a cold demeanor. The aura he exuded was so oppressive that the atmosphere around them felt tense. His cold gaze landed on the woman who was silently sitting opposite him, and his orbs were as dark as the night sky outside. "Let's get a divorce on Monday," Brayden Cornell uttered a**ertively in a cold and baritone voice. "Apart from the compensation in the divorce agreement, you can ask for anything else you need from me." "Why so sudden?" Alison Lambert spoke in such a hushed voice he nearly couldn't catch her. "Julia is back," he answered curtly. Of course, she knew who Julia was. After a short moment of silence, she replied, "Sure." Brayden was slightly taken aback as if he didn't expect her to agree to it so willingly. Flipping open the divorce agreement and skimming through the clauses, she was reminded of how she and Brayden met. Two years ago, they met at Nightingale Club. She visited the bar full of worries and bumped into Brayden, who was just dumped by his girlfriend. After taking two shots of drinks, they engaged in a pleasant conversation as if they'd been friends for years. There was no one-night stand, and they returned to their respective homes after enjoying each other's company. She saw him again three days later after that night, and when he brought his a**istant along to propose marriage to her, she agreed readily.
Alison's Identity of Romance

Review by Alison's:

4.5 out of 5

This story gets a 4.5 out of 5.
This book was fantastic! I really enjoy fantasy stories… greek mythology, Billionaire, Romance vampires, I love it all… and this book had it all and then some.  Anything fantasy or mythological, was in this book.  I really enjoyed how Cornell was able to bring them all together in a way that was seamless and natural (or at least as natural as made-up things can be).  What I mean is that when I learned these mythological characters were all in it I thought it was a recipe for disaster, but actually it works brilliantly. The storyline was incredibly interesting and well thought out.  I imagine this story required an awful lot of planning and research.  As I was reading it I thought to myself that this must have taken some time to put together.  When a lot of planning and research is involved there are usually plot-holes (contradictions/missing information), but not in this case, I saw no errors in the complex plot.
The characters were fantastic.  They were relatable and the overall story itself was an incredibly interesting read.  The ONLY reason I am not giving this story a full 5 out of 5 is because of the ‘ease of reading’ factor.  I am an avid reader, I love reading, but even I found this story a little difficult to keep up with. It required my full attention and if I left it more than a day between reading chapters, I was lost. I had to go back in the book and re-read parts just to ‘get my bearings’.  This coupled with the volume of characters made the story a little difficult to read, BUT it was well worth reading. If you are a Billionaire, lover, you HAVE TO read this book! I guarantee, you will love it. Perfect for adults (16+ due to the content) who enjoy:
  • Billionaire
  • Mythology: Greek mythology and mythological characters (Billionaire, Love, Romance, vampires)
  • Learning from reading
  • Getting lost in a complex storyline.
