Chapter 57 I Will Make You Repay!
Instead of responding to him, she made a phone call right away. “Is this the psychiatric hospital? I have a patient with severe mental disorders here. Could you please come over?” she said.
“Alison!” Brayden stood up and walked over to snatch her phone away before hanging up the call. This woman is still as infuriating as ever.
“If you’re sick, go and get yourself treated. Delaying it isn’t just bad for yourself as you could potentially hurt others too,” Alison said flatly.
“Do you think pretending to be crazy will help you escape from what happened today?” Brayden threw the phone aside and looked down at her.
“What happened?” Alison wasn’t affected by his cold attitude.
“Conner.” Brayden stared at her, surprised at how well she could act. “Show it to her.”
With that, Conner picked up the tablet and handed it over. A tweet was displayed on the screen.
He believed that she didn’t do it. “Please take a look at it, Miss Lambert.”
“Only you would do something that lame.” Brayden was certain that Alison was behind it, which made him feel disappointed in her. “I’ll make you repay the harm you’ve caused Julia.”
At that moment, Alison crossed her legs and browsed through the tweet nonchalantly. She even clicked on all the photos and checked the comments section. Instead of saying who was behind this, she lifted her gaze and asked curtly. “How are you going to make me pay for it? Are you going to spend money to make. this tweet viral and tell everyone on the internet that you cheated on me?” She met his gaze. “Then, are you going to let the netizens in the comments section mock me and say that I can’t even keep my own man?”
Hearing that, Conner remained silent while Brayden’s cold aura began to emanate.
“If that’s what you want, you might be disappointed,” Alison retorted. “Netizens are smarter than you and have a better sense of values. To them, the person who cheated is the one who deserves to be criticized.”
“Do you think I won’t do anything to you?” It was Brayden’s first time glaring at her so coldly.
Upon hearing that, Alison leaned against the couch and handed the tablet back to Conner before continuing nonchalantly, “If I were you, I’d be too embarra**ed to question me about this. Whether I did it or not, is there anything wrong with that tweet?”
“Conner.” Brayden ran out of patience and didn’t want to continue the conversation.
Conner trembled and replied, “Yes, Boss?”
“Cut off all of Yulia’s film and television contracts,” instructed Brayden coldly as he glared at Alison.
“Yes.” Conner could only obey his orders.
“Don’t you dare touch her.” For once, Alison’s nonchalant expression disappeared, and her eyes showed a hint of emotion.
“Besides that woman’s film and television contracts, cut off all of her other resources. On top of that, release the dirt that we’ve gotten on her.” Brayden spoke emotionlessly.
“Boss…” Conner hesitated. He knew that Brayden was just threatening Alison and wouldn’t actually do it. However, he was worried that Brayden’s harsh words would ruin his relationship with Alison once and for all.
“Get it done!” Brayden’s aura was chilling to the core.
“Understood.” Conner could only agree for now.
Alison, who was enraged by his words, stood up and threatened him, “If you dare touch Yulia, I will make sure you won’t see Julia again in your.life.”
“Then you won’t see Yulia either,” Brayden retorted.
Alison couldn’t understand how he had become like this. He was even willing to implicate an innocent person. “She hasn’t offended you in any way, so why do you have to drag her down?”
“Do you dare say she wasn’t the one who taught you how to make the tweet go viral?” Brayden countered firmly as his expression turned cold. “Both of you only met recently, and Julia’s news went viral at the same time. Are you telling me that this is just a coincidence?”
Before today, he didn’t know that Alison had a friend in Riverton, and he had no idea that her friend was Kian’s wife. Upon getting wind of the viral tweet, he investigated Alison’s whereabouts that day and found out she had met with Yulia. At that moment, he was convinced Yulia had taught Alison everything.
According to Kian, Yulia had messed around and gotten herself pregnant; only a person with such a chaotic personal life would come up with such despicable ideas. After Alison heard what he said, she knew that Brayden had investigated her after the tweet went viral.
Without beating around the bush, she defended herself and said, “It wasn’t me.”
“Do you think I would believe you?”
“When will you stop with your stupidity, Brayden?” Alison was extremely frustrated. “Why would I spend money to make that tweet go viral?”
“You think her appearance ruined our…”
“What do you want?” Alison interrupted him. She knew too well there was no point in talking to someone like him. She didn’t want to waste her breath speaking to an idiot!
“I want you to apologize on Twitter,” Brayden ordered. He saw it as Alison admitting to her doings, which enraged him even more. “After that, go to Julia and apologize until she forgives you.”
“Boss, I don’t think it’ll be appropriate for Miss Lambert to apologize online…” Conner couldn’t bear to watch anymore.
Hearing that, Brayden glared at him coldly.
“The buzz surrounding this matter is already dying down. If Miss Lambert apologizes on Twitter right now, netizens will curse her relentlessly, and her reputation will be tainted,” Conner explained in a rush.
“She brought it upon herself,” Brayden said emotionlessly.
“That’s not the point.” Conner was trying his best to help Alison. “The thing is-”
“Conner.” Alison stopped him, knowing what he was going to say.
Once she was criticized, netizens would dig up her past and might even discover her marital relationship. with Brayden, as well as the secrets between Brayden and Julia. She didn’t want to inform Brayden about those consequences. Meanwhile, Conner was taken aback when Alison called him by his name for the first
time.
“Your Boss has made up his mind, so there’s no need to dissuade him,” Alison said calmly. As her unfathomable gaze fell on Brayden, she asked, “Are you sure you want me to apologize on the internet?”
“Yes,” Brayden replied decisively.
“Alright!” Alison agreed.
Conner was puzzled upon hearing that, and he wanted to make her change her mind. “Miss Lambert, you… Did she agree to it just like that? This is unlike her!
“As long as you apologize on the internet, this matter will be over.” Brayden did not mention anything about apologizing to Julia. “When introducing yourself, say that you are a colleague of Julia’s, and don’t mention that we are married.”
Alison did not respond. He wants me to apologize, huh? Does he think I’m as shallow as him?
Brayden withdrew his gaze and instructed Conner heartlessly, “Stay here and watch over Alison until she finishes writing her apology and posts it online.”
“Yes.”
“Make it go viral once she posts it.”
“Got it,” Conner responded promptly,
Before leaving, Brayden looked at Alison and warned. I’d advise you not to play any tricks. Everything you do will eventually have its consequences, and Yulia will ultimately pay for it.”
With that, Brayden took his car keys and left. When he returned to the car, he didn’t immediately start the engine and leave. He didn’t look as calm on the surface as he seemed, and he felt displeased when he thought about Alison’s attitude tonight.
