Chapter 55 Are You Pregnant?
It was strange when Alison thought about it. Everyone in Imperia thinks I’m capable of anything, but Yala always feels the need to protect me. She even said that I have a poor sense of direction and that she will work hard to take care of me in the future Sometimes, I wonder if I gave her the wrong imprettion, making her believe that I need to be protected.
While lost in her thoughts, the two of them soon arrived at the private room.
Yulia gestured for her to sit down, and after ordering their food, she started chatting with Alison “Why are you leaving Riverton all of a sudden? Is your man planning to further his career in another city?”
Although she knew about Alison’s marriage, they never mentioned any names. Yulia didn’t ask, nor did Alison mention it.
When the two girls gathered together, they talked about nearly anything and everything. Most of the time. their topics revolved around food, gossip, work, fashion, beauty, and so on. They rarely touched on personal relationships unless they had any issues. Moreover, Alison rarely attended gatherings with Brayden, and they hadn’t made their relationship public, so naturally, not many people knew about it.
“It’s not that.” Alison didn’t want to hide anything from her. “We’re getting divorced soon.”
Hearing that. Yulia was utterly shocked. The news came as a shock to her, for she never thought that these Two would get divorced. “You’re joking, right? Didn’t you say you guys had a whirlwind romance? Also,
doesn’t he treat you well?”
“The divorce application has been filed,” Alison explained. “Once the cooling-off period ends next Tuesday, we’ll collect the divorce certificate on Wednesday.”
“Give me a minute here.” Yulia felt a little overwhelmed. Divorce? I never expected that. My best friend is such a good person. How could anyone bear to leave her? After calming down a little, she asked tentatively, “Who initiated the divorce?”
“He did,” Alison replied.
“Why?” Yulia couldn’t help but gossip.
Alison didn’t reveal the real reason, only saying, “We’re just not compatible.”
She knew Yulia’s personality well. If Yulia knew that Brayden initiated the divorce because his first love had come back, she would be infuriated. Alison didn’t want her to be overly worried.
“Never mind. Say goodbye to him and move on. The next person will be even better!” Yulia comforted Alison, not wanting her to feel unhappy. “Find someone who is hotter and treats you better. Let him know that there are plenty of people who care about you. We don’t need him.”
Hearing that, Alison nodded and gave a soft hum of acknowledgment.
After they chatted for a while, their food arrived. During the meal, Alison unintentionally noticed a hickey on Yulia’s neck, which she hadn’t noticed before because of the scarf Yulia had been wearing.
She looked over and said, “Yulia.”
“What’s up?” Yulia replied, glancing at her phone as she responded to a text.
Alison asked, “Are you dating someone?”
“What? No,” Yulia answered with a chuckle.
As Alison pointed to her own neck, she kept her eyes on Yulia. “What’s this, then?”
When Yulia realized what Alison was referring to, her body stiffened for a moment. It was a subtle reaction, but Alison noticed it.
“I’m married,” Yulia said casually, her tone not much different from before. “That b*stard I’m married to did it.”
Alison’s shock was no less than Yulia’s when she learned about Alison’s divorce, for she hadn’t received any news about this. “Why haven’t you told me?”
“It’s just a marriage of convenience,” Yulia said quickly and half-truthfully. “We’ll separate once his first love changes her mind. It’s not like he’s an important person anyway, so I never mentioned him to you.”
At her words, Alison was startled. First love? “If that’s the case, why would he…” She didn’t know how to phrase her question.
“We’re adults. We just take what we need,” Yulia replied with a carefree smile. “Let’s not talk about this. Let’s think about where to go after we finish eating. It’s been ages since I last went shopping.”
She didn’t mention that she had been coerced into the marriage. Last night, the man came back with the scent of another woman’s perfume and a lipstick mark on him. She felt disgusted and resisted, but a woman’s strength was nothing compared to a man’s, so she had no choice but to submit. Fortunately, he was eventually angered by her and didn’t proceed any further. Otherwise, she would be genuinely afraid. of harming the child in her womb.
In the end, Alison didn’t say much and merely stated, “Tell me if something happens. I will help you.”
“I’ll be relieved as long as you’re doing well,” Yulia replied with a carefree attitude, her beautiful eyes curving into crescent shapes. “If you face any difficulties after the divorce, remember to let me know. I’ll work hard to support you.”
When Alison heard that, she responded, “I should be the one saying that to you.”
Yulia was confused by her words.
“I have a lot of money,” explained Alison.
“How much?”
“210 million.”
Hearing this, Yulia’s brain froze for a second. A string of question marks formed above her head, and all her emotions were written on her face. “How much?”
“210 million,” Alison repeated. Yulia is trustworthy. “He compensated me when we divorced.”
Within seconds, Yulia was flabbergasted. 210 million? How many zeros is that? I can’t earn that much money even if I work my entire life.
“Did he feel guilty for keeping a mistress outside?” Although she was shocked, she still thought of something crucial. “Or did you have some leverage on him?”
That’s 210 million we’re talking about, not 21,000 or a few bucks. She couldn’t believe that a man, in a situation
where he didn’t love a woman, would be willing to give her so much money.
At this moment, Alison had no comeback. She pinched her glabella and thought. Her personality makes it easy for people to let their guard down. She mentioned the money because she didn’t want Yulia to worry, but she ended up neglecting the reasons behind the money
“Does he really have a mistress?!” Yulia widened her eyes
After contemplating for a moment, Alison answered, “It’s similar to your situation.”
“First love?”
“Yeah.”
“What the f*ck?!” Yulia became outraged, and her emotions escalated rapidly. “I used to think he was good to you and someone worth entrusting your life to, but I didn’t expect him to be a se*mbag as well.”
Alison didn’t respond, and she dared not do so. When Yulia’s emotions exploded, it was not something an ordinary person could handle.

Seeing this, Alison was bewildered. Before she could react, Yulia had already grabbed her hand. “Take me to see him. I have to give him a good scolding! How dare he bully my best friend? Once I’m famous, I’ll expose his sc*mbag behavior and let the righteous keyboard warriors tear him apart!”
“There’s no need for that.” Alison grabbed Yulia’s wrist with her other hand. After a pause, she said, “We’re going to….” Before she could tell Yulia they were going to collect their divorce certificate, she stopped talking.
Yulia noticed that Alison’s expression seemed off, so she immediately sat down and showed some concern. “What’s wrong?”
Suddenly, Alison took Yulia’s hand and began to feel her pulse more seriously than ever before.
This series of actions stunned Yulia.
“Are you pregnant?” Alison asked tentatively, looking at Yulia in all seriousness.
