Chapter 42 Entry Denied
Julia took the phone out from under the pillow Her heart thumped wildly, and her face was pale as she looked at the number she hadn’t contacted for almost a month. She tried to hang up the call but eventually gave up when she thought about what would happen once she did that. Thus, she could only answer it. “Hello.. Her voice trembled as she spoke,
“It took you long enough to answer the call. The voice from the other end of the line was soft. Nevertheless, it still made Julia’s breath bitch.
She shuddered and stammered, “I-I was in the bathroom just now, so I didn’t hear it.”
“How are things going?”
They still have 13 days left before they can get the divorce decree.”
“Are you sure that Brayden will get married to you after he has a divorce?” the man asked. Although his voice was calm and soothing, Julia felt fear crawl onto her due to his tone.
“I’m sure.” She gulped. Cold sweats formed on her forehead. “He had told his family about us. Once he gets the divorce decree, we will get married.”
“Okay. The man had no intention of having any further conversation. “Remember to do as planned once You are married to him. If you dare to disobey me, I’m sure you’ll know the consequences.”
Julia’s heart shuddered, and she felt chills run down her spine. Before she ended the call, she suddenly thought of something. Then, she mustered up the courage and said, “Wait!”
The man kept silent.
“Are you the one who got me into a car accident and told the others to rape me?” Julia’s hands were getting sweaty as she spoke. She bit her lip and felt a lump in her throat as she waited for the man to answer.
However, the man didn’t admit or deny her words. Instead, he said, “I like to take matters into my own. hands.”
At that moment, something ticked inside Julia. She had to tighten her grip on the phone to ensure she didn’t drop it. Once the call ended, the phone slipped from her hand, and she flopped onto the couch. She had lost all her energy.
It’s not him, and it’s not Alison, either. Who could have done this?
After 30 minutes of lying on the couch, she regained her energy. Then, she seemed to have thought of something and deleted the call history. After that, she sat there without moving. The only thought in her mind was to make sure that Brayden would not know any of these things!
On the other hand, Brayden didn’t have time to think of Julia. After he got a call from her, he thought about what she had said. Then, he decided to leave work and went to find Alison.
At this moment, Conner took some documents into the room and had the usual smile on his face. “Boss, here are some documents that you need to sign-
“Put it on the table.”
Hearing his words, Brayden stopped in his tracks. His eyes were cold as he stared at Conner. “If it’s so urgent, why didn’t you give it to me sooner? Why did you have to wait until now?” He was unhappy.
Conner had no idea what to say. I’m just here to deliver the documents, he thought.
“Let them wait. That’ll teach them a lesson,” said Brayden. He left the room as soon as the words came out.
After Brayden was gone, those who hid behind the corners slowly walked up to Conner and asked, “What did he say, Mr. Conner? He seemed to be in a bad mood.”
Conner looked at them and repeated what Brayden had said.
The trio was baffled by Brayden’s reaction.
“Did he seriously say that?”
“Did Mr. Gornell get into an argument with his wife?”
“I feel like they are going to get a divorce soon.”
When Conner heard the last person’s words, he looked at her.
Those people were sensitive to details. Noticing his gaze, she covered her mouth in disbelief and said, “No way… Did I guess it right?”
“Mr. Cornell is in a good relationship with Mrs. Cornell. Conner didn’t express his emotions, but he was truly shocked by their predictions. “As a secretary, you should remember not to pry into Mr. Cornell’s life too much.”
If they know that Boss is divorcing Mrs. Cornell, the whole company will know about this by tomorrow. Although they are pretty strict with confidential information, they spread gossip as fast as lightning. Thinking about it, Conner sighed and went back to work.
In the meantime, Brayden had used more than an hour to arrive at Alison’s house. It was already 12.30PM when he arrived at her doorstep.
At this moment, Alison was having lunch. When she heard knocking on the door, she went to open it. She had made up her mind that if it were Julia by the door, she would kick the latter out without hesitation. However, to her surprise, it was Brayden.
“What are you doing here?” She despised Brayden and Julia so much that she couldn’t spare any patience. for them.
“I’m here to talk to you about some stuff,” said Brayden as he tried to enter the house.
However, Alison blocked his path and tapped on the door. “Didn’t you read the sign?” she asked.
Hearing her words, the man was confused. He looked at the door but saw nothing on it.
“What sign?”
“Brayden and dogs are not allowed to enter the room.” She emphasized each word as she spoke.
Brayden barged into the room and pinned her against the door once he heard her words. He kept her
between him and the door as he said, ‘Do you think I’m easygoing just because I have been nice to you for the past few days?”
“I should be the one asking you that Alison looked at him with disgust. Am I a pushover to you? Is that why you have decided with Julia to come bugging me
“A pushover? You? The man had a doubtful expression. He would have thought that she was a pushover in the past However, ever since he had filed a divorce with her, her attitude changed dramatically. Honestly, she’s anything but a doormat now.
Alison didn’t want to have anything to do with him. If it weren’t for the divorce decree, she would have kicked him out by now.
“If you have something to say, say it. Otherwise, get out. She didn’t want to act kind toward him anymore.
Finally, Brayden snapped out of his trance and questioned her previous doings. He looked at her and asked. “Why did you say those things to Grandpa? You know that he hates her. Grandpa would only hate her more after your words.”
“And? What does that have to do with me?” she asked.
“You are the cause of this issue.”
Coldness filled Alison’s eyes when she heard his words. “You can keep talking if you wish for another slap,”
she said.
Her words had struck a nerve in Brayden. After all, this was the most embarra**ing thing he had ever experienced. Thus, as he recalled that moment, he emitted a cold aura. “Alison!”
“I suggest you and Julia get a brain scan together.” Alison couldn’t understand how he had changed to another person. “This is the first time I have seen someone with such a corrupted mind like you two.”
“What do you mean by that?” His eyes darkened at her words.
“Julia is the home-wrecker in our marriage.” This was the first time Alison had stated the facts clearly. She changed the word ‘relationship’ to ‘marriage. “You are a cheater. Yet, you guys wouldn’t stop pestering me telling me all this nonsense. Do you think I’ll let you pick on me like that?” She wanted to clarify things
with him.
