Chapter 40 Have Her Brain Checked Out
“Yes. You are right.” Alison was too lazy to retort.
When Julia heard her words, she felt as if she had done no damage to Alison. She had never seen anyone who acted like Alison before!
“Don’t think that Brayden cares about you just because he gives you a lot of money after the divorce. Let me tell you…” Julia was suppressing her emotions. She wanted to see Alison break down from her words. After all, she couldn’t stand that Alison always looked almighty while she acted like a clown!
As Alison listened to Julia blabbering beside her ear, she began to get annoyed. This was the first time she had gotten so frustrated with a person. She used to think that women were the cutest being on earth, whether it was Hannah or her friends. However, ever since she met Julia, she wanted to throw the latter out of the window.
A while later, she didn’t want to waste any more time, so she asked, “Are you done talking?”
“Alison!” Julia couldn’t keep her cool anymore.
“I am not interested in what you are going to say. If you are just here to tell me about this boring stuff, please turn around and leave.” During the whole conversation, Alison remained calm. After all, Julia’s method was too old–school to the point she didn’t have the urge to fight back.
On the other hand, Julia was upset by Alison’s words. In her mind, this wasn’t supposed to happen. Initially, she had planned out that Alison would get mad at her and say hurtful things. Then, Alison would hit her, and she would take this as an advantage to act miserable in front of Brayden. When that happened, Brayden would loathe Alison for sure. That way, she wouldn’t have to worry that Brayden would regret his decision to break up with Alison.
Thinking about it, Julia pursed her lips and decided to use her final trick. “I have something else to tell you. It’s crucial. Let’s talk about it downstairs.”
“You can just say whatever you want right now,” replied Alison.
However, Julia bit her lip and said nothing. In the meantime, Alison stared at her in silence. As the duo stood there for about a minute, Alison ran out of patience. She returned to the room, grabbed her laptop, closed the door, and walked down the stairs. When Julia saw her actions, she immediately chased after her.
As they walked downstairs, Julia pointed at a coffee shop and said, “Let’s talk over there.”
However, Alison ignored her. She walked past her and entered a cab.
At that moment, Julia was shocked. She immediately chased after the car and stood in front of it. “I need to talk to you about this, Alison!”
“Sir, please drive.” Alison didn’t give Julia a single glance.
I should have bought a car before. Look at me now. I can’t even leave in peace.
“Miss, I think it’s best to talk to your friend. She looks as if she has something important to tell you.” The driver didn’t dare to start the car. After all, a living human was standing in front of his
car.
When Alison heard the driver’s words, she was reluctant to do so. After all, Julia was like glue sticking to her.
Looking out the window, she mused for a while before exiting the car for her peace. After seeing Alison getting out of the car, Julia moved out of the way.
Five minutes later, the duo sat in the coffee shop near the window.
After Julia had ordered a cup of coffee, Alison went straight to the point. “Let’s cut to the chase. I don’t have all day.”
“Do you love Brayden?” Julia asked all of a sudden.
Her question baffled Alison.
“I love him,” said Julia.
Alison was at a loss for words.
Then, Julia asked another question. “Do you know why we broke up in the first place?”
“I wish you had better questions than these.” Alison looked at her with annoyance.
“I know it’s unfair to you that Brayden has filed a divorce with you because of me. However, I can’t let him go.” As Julia spoke, she clenched her fists and bit her lip. “When I was diagnosed with cancer, I forced myself to break up with him. At that moment, I didn’t see any hope of me living. However, things changed. I was cured. After my illness was cured, I contacted him and told him everything, leading to today’s situation,” she explained as she needed Alison’s help.
“Do I need to reward you with something?” Alison asked sarcastically.
“You don’t have to mock me. Truthfully, I need your help with something.” Julia had a hard time saying what it was. However, she knew that only Alison could complete her request. Thus, after staying silent for a moment, she finished her words. “Can you help me by saying nice things about me in front of Old Mr. Cornell and Madam Cornell? I want them to accept me since I am truly in love with Brayden.”
Alison stopped playing with her phone momentarily upon hearing Julia’s words. Then, she opened The Magnificent Seven’s group chat and sent a text, which was unusual for her to do so.
‘Do I look like an idiot?‘
After all, Brayden and Julia had been trying to get on her nerves, thinking that she was an idiot that would follow their orders just because they said so.
Whiskers sent a series of question marks in response to her question.
Charles was also confused by her sudden question.
Even the others also voiced their concerns about her question.
Jake texted, ‘Is her account being hacked?‘
Whiskers asked, ‘Why did you say such words, Aly?‘
Alison replied to their messages and ignored Julia. Usually, she would never look at her phone when talking to someone. After all, it was rude to be playing on your phone when someone else was talking. However, Alison decided to give her respect to those who deserved it rather than someone who was trash.
Alison replied in the group chat, ‘Brayden’s lover is telling me how much she loves him and even wants me to say nice things about her in front of his family. She wants his family to accept her.‘
When she sent the message, the others immediately spammed the chat with question marks.
After some time, Whiskers was the first to reply, ‘I think she is brain–dead for asking such a request.‘
Jake then suggested, ‘You should probably give her some money to have her brain checked out.’
Karen texted, ‘Tell her to come and find me. I can cure her shamelessness.‘
Whiskers texted, ‘This is so disgusting!‘
Then, Karen tagged Alison and wrote, ‘You know what? You should help her out. Help her as much as possible.‘
Bewildered, Whiskers texted, ‘What?’
Jake was confused as well as he asked, ‘Why?‘
When Alison saw Karen’s message, she immediately knew what the latter meant. Then, she smiled and replied, ‘Will do.’
After that, she muted her phone notification.
On the other hand, Whiskers and Jake were riled up. After all, they couldn’t believe that Karen
had told Alison to help the b*tch. And they got even more frustrated because Alison did what Karen had told her to. Thus, the confused duo immediately bombarded Karen with questions.
In the meantime, Julia looked at Alison and said, “As long as you help me with this, I will guarantee you that Brayden will help you whenever you have a hard time.” She was serious with her words, seemingly as if this was an honorable thing for Alison to have.
Hearing her words, Alison looked at her and said quickly, “Alright.”
At that moment, Julia was startled. Since Alison had agreed to her request without a second thought, she needed time to think it through. After all, she didn’t know why Alison would her offer since she had loathed her. “Did you just agree to it?” she asked.
“Yes.” As Alison spoke, she dialed Barry’s phone number. “Is it alright if I help you now?”

“Of course,” replied Julia. She couldn’t hide her excitement as she thought Alison was an idiot.
The call soon went through. “Aly.”
“It’s me, Grandpa.” Alison’s voice was cheerful. She was soft and gentle around him. “Be prepared, as I have some huge news for you.”
Barry cherished Alison so much that he played along with her. “Alright. I’m ready now. Please tell me what it is, Aly.”
