Alison’s Identity of Romance ( Brayden Cornell ) Chapter 37 My Greatest Regret
“You said it yourself. This happened because she was going to meet you. Since we aren’t divorced yet, her behavior is counted as cheating with you behind my back, which is also called third wheeling.” Alison’s words were blunt. She believed that those criminals should be in jail for what they did, but she would never feel pity for Julia.
As Brayden heard her words, his eyes darkened.
However, she didn’t flinch and continued, “You should also be held responsible for what happened to her.” After all, if he had filed a divorce with her as soon as he got that call, he could marry Julia right after Julia’s return, and they wouldn’t need to make a promise. The nerve of him to blame me when he’s the one who cheated on me!
After staring at her for some time, Brayden said, “The biggest mistake I made in life is marrying you, thinking that you are as kind–hearted as she is.”
“What a coincidence. That is also my biggest regret,” Alison retorted.
Brayden averted his gaze and immediately left the coffee shop. As he walked out of the door, he called Conner and told the latter to prepare a plane ticket for him. At that moment, Alison heard it and was in a bad mood.
Initially, she thought she had no feelings for him and could remain calm and composed as she faced this matter. However, after what had happened just now, she realized that she needed some time to forget him before being able to live a peaceful life again.
As she watched Brayden leave, she dialed a number.
At 6.00PM, Alison arrived at Blue Friday.
Blue Friday was a bar that James was in charge of. When he got a call from Alison, he was excited. However, he became unsettled when he heard Alison ask for his company at the bar.
Under the dim lights, the duo sat in the lounge. Alison had a table full of alcohol in front of her.
James shuddered when he saw how much alcohol there was. He gulped and said cautiously, “I don’t think we can finish all of these, Aly. Why don’t I call the others to come over?”
“It’s fine,” Alison refused.
“Well, they-” He had wanted to say that the others had already known what happened between her and Brayden. However, he didn’t dare to continue his words after meeting her
eyes.
Alison didn’t want the others to know since she knew how they would react. She would prefer to get married quietly, and she wished the same for getting a divorce.
“What is it?” she asked.
Immediately, James recoiled and said, “It’s nothing.”
Then, Alison opened every bottle of alcohol and gave one to him. “Here you go.”
“Aly.”
“If you have something to say, just say it.” She wasn’t in the mood.
James pursed his lips. He felt unsettled to have such a huge secret with no one to talk to. Thus, he braced himself and decided to tell her the truth. “There is something I’ve been meaning to tell you.”
“Go on.”
“The others know what happened between you and Brayden.”
When Alison heard his words, she stopped drinking.
At that moment, cold sweats formed on James‘ forehead. He could feel the intimidating aura radiating off her!
“When you told me not to tell the others, they were just right beside me…” he said quietly. He was nervous. “There was nothing I could do at that point.”
A glint flashed across Alison’s eyes as she spoke softly, “What were their reactions?”
“They beat me up!” James pouted. “They said I’m your favorite since you didn’t tell them this secret aside from me.”
Hearing his words, she pursed her lips. There were emotions in her eyes, and she gripped the bottle tightly.
“Aly?” He looked at her worriedly.
“I’ll meet them once I get my divorce decree.” Alison was in a bad mood, and her voice was sulky. “I’ll talk to them about it.”
“About that… I’m afraid they won’t be available this month.”
“Huh?”
“They are quite busy.”
“Why is that?” Alison was puzzled.
“Some are going on a trip with their girlfriend, some are going to meet their online friend in real life, and some are going to meet their partner’s parents,” James explained to her.
“They are dating someone?” Alison was surprised.
“Don’t you know about it?”
“Know about what?”
“The only single ones in The Magnificent Seven are Charles, Jake, and me.” As James talked about it, he became upset and complained, “The rest have been dating someone else behind our backs, especially you! You even got married!” He was getting worked up as he spoke. Then, he felt a sudden urge to slap himself as he recalled Alison was already on her way to getting a divorce. “Aly, I…” My gosh, how can I hurt Aly like that?!
Meanwhile, Alison seemed different after hearing his words. “They are dating someone already?”
“Didn’t you see
you see the group chat?” James asked.
She shook her head in return. She didn’t spend much time on her phone and rarely watched the chat since they mostly talked about gossip. Since she wasn’t interested in that kind of talk, she rarely looked at it. Only when someone mentioned her in the group or spoke to her personally would she check it. Occasionally, she would look at the group chat when she was free.
“During the three months that you left Imperia and went to Riverton, they started to see someone else.” James was still irked by this matter. “We promised each other that we would be best friends forever. Whoever gets out of singlehood first is a fool.”
As he talked, Alison put the alcohol on the table and stood up. “I’m done drinking.”
“What?” James was confused by her actions.
“I remember that you like to watch sports car racing, right? I’ll take you there.” Her mood had improved.
James was baffled, and his eyes widened at her words. “Really!?”
“Yeah.” She had a faint smile on her lips.
“Oh, my god! You are the best, Aly!” He stood up and rushed over to her, hugging her in excitement.
Alison pushed him away by pressing her hand against his head.
For all this time, she didn’t want them to know about the divorce between her and Brayden since she remembered what they had promised. They told her they would never get married if she had an unhappy marriage. Thus, she didn’t want them to oppose getting married just because she had
a bad marriage. Some people deserved better, and she was happy they had found someone they loved.
That night, Alison and James went to the racetrack in Imperia. However, this racetrack wasn’t like the ones designated for rich people. They went to the racetrack that was meant for famous racers worldwide. Although many people had wanted to get in and watch the race, not everyone was qualified to enter. However, since Alison was famous, she could easily get James into the racetrack and even put him in the best view.
After James had watched a few rounds of matches, he took a picture and posted it online. ‘Sweet! Aly took me to see racing cars!‘
As soon as he posted the photos, someone commented.
Hannah’s comment came first. ‘That’s not fair! Aly took you there but not me! Hmph!‘
Charles texted, ‘She didn’t participate, did she?‘
