Alison’s Identity of Romance ( Brayden Cornell ) Chapter 22

Alison’s Identity of Romance ( Brayden Cornell ) Chapter 22

Chapter 22 Nearly Exposed

“Yeah,” Alison hummed flatly.

Realization hit James like a train wreck. So that explains why! After all, Brayden may be able to make someone find out the information I have hidden, but absolutely no one will be able to learn anything if Miss Lambert is the one doing the hiding.

Then, the two chatted quietly for a while when Alison’s phone suddenly vibrated. When she saw that it was Charles calling, she asked James to look after Hannah before going out to take the call.

However, the moment she opened the door of the ward and strode out, she came across a few figures that appeared around the corner. The one walking in the middle was none other than Brayden, who had previously come to Imperia with her.

Thus, she swiftly retreated into the ward and shut the door.

“What’s wrong?” James asked with a puzzled look.

Alison didn’t answer him and walked toward the balcony of the ward with her phone without any delay.

Simultaneously, Brayden, who spotted the figure pa**ing by, stopped when he came to the ward. where Alison was in.

One of the staff from Cornell Corporation’s Imperia branch asked, “Mr. Cornell, what’s the matter?”

To be frank, they were all dumbfounded at the moment. They couldn’t understand why they would end up in the hospital halfway through the journey when it was clear to them that they had all agreed to go to the company in the first place.

“Who is staying in that ward?” Brayden parted his lips and asked indifferently. The figure I spotted from the corner of my eye just now looked a lot like Alison. In addition, she did mention that she only came to Imperia because her family member was hospitalized due to an accident.

Sebastian Larson, the person in charge and the chief officer of Cornell Corporation’s Imperia branch, quickly answered, “It seems to be Hannah Lambert, the heiress of Lambert International.”

“Knock on the door.” Brayden’s eyes darkened slightly as he instructed in a calm voice.

Sebastian was a little confused after he heard Brayden’s instruction. Therefore, he tentatively asked, “Aren’t we supposed to visit the boss of Tanner Group?”

“Lambert International has cooperative ties with us too. Since their heiress is currently being hospitalized, as their partner, we ought to visit her,” said Brayden solemnly. Then, he ordered once more with his deep voice, “Knock on the door.”

With that, Sebastian could only knock on the door despite his confusion. My

ntuition tells me that

there is certainly more tea to this matter! After all, Mr. Cornell had never cared about trivial matters like this. Besides, Lambert International isn’t our most valued cooperative partner. Even if we truly needed to visit Miss Hannah, Mr. Cornell would only leave such a task to his employees. He wouldn’t ever pay her a visit in person. Something fishy is undoubtedly going on!

Although he had these thoughts in his mind, his body reacted by knocking on the door in the next second.

When James heard the knock on the door, he peeked through the transparent viewing window and saw a person in a suit. Then, he instinctively glanced at the balcony where Alison was located. “Miss Lambert, it seems to be people from Cornell Corporation.”

“Deal with them for me.” Since Alison didn’t want to meet Brayden, she warned, “Don’t let them in.” Once Brayden sees me here, he will surely think I married him out of hidden agendas. He may even think I was trying to steal trade secrets. I’m currently not in the mood to talk to him about these things, nor do I want to quarrel with him in Anna’s ward.

James rose to his feet and went to answer the door. His layered hair was down, which made him exude an especially strong, youthful vibe.

“Who are you guys?” He opened the door and asked.

“I am the chief officer of Cornell Corporation’s Imperia branch,” Sebastian introduced himself. Then, he turned his body sideways and introduced Brayden, “This is our president, Mr. Cornell. He heard Miss Hannah was hospitalized, so he personally came to visit her.”

“Thank you,” James said casually.

Outwardly, Sebastian spoke nothing. However, inwardly, he questioned why James wasn’t inviting them into Hannah’s ward.

Meanwhile, a vehement aura encircled Brayden as he gazed past James and into the ward.

On the other hand, James didn’t hide his gaze as he scrutinized Brayden. At this moment, he discovered a major issue. This man is better looking in person than in the photo! It’s no wonder that Miss Lambert fell for him!

“Is Alison here?” Brayden shifted his gaze to James. His eyes displayed a look that could strike someone in terror as he attempted to trap James with his question.

James couldn’t register his question for a moment. “Huh?”

“This is our gift to cheer Miss Hannah up.” Brayden retracted his gaze, took the gift they had prepared for the president of Tanner Group from Sebastian’s hand, and handed it over. “I wish Miss Hannah a speedy recovery.”

“Thank you.” James took it.

Afterward, Brayden left together with the staff members, who were all following behind his heels.

Sebastian was stunned at the sudden change of events. At the same time, he started freaking out as he stared at his now empty hands. What shall we give Mr. Tanner when we visit him later now that we have given Miss Hannah the gift we’d initially prepared for him?

On the contrary, James couldn’t understand why the people from Cornell Corporation made such a scene. As a result, the incident that happened just now still lingered in his mind while he placed the gift on the table next to the hospital bed.

“I never thought that you had a talent in acting,” Alison praised while sitting at a spot that enshrouded her from the viewing window.

“What?” James asked.

“Brayden laid a trap for you earlier. It doesn’t matter if you replied yes or no because the instant. you do, you will reveal that you know me. For a moment, I was terrified that you would accidentally spill the beans.” Alison was breathless with anxiety when she heard the question Brayden posed to James earlier.

James had a strange expression when he heard what Alison said. Then, he scratched his head and chuckled before blurting, “Actually, I was thinking about how he looked more handsome in person than in the photo. I didn’t really hear his question.”

Alison was speechless.

“By the time I came back to my senses and was about to answer him, he had already handed me the gift and left,” James added, and his eyes wandered away from the woman before him.

Alison was truly at a loss for words after she heard that. Shall I conclude that it’s all fate?

“Miss Lambert, did you marry him because his good looks caught your eyes back then?” James finally seized a chance to gossip.

Alison hummed, “I guess so.” Brayden’s good looks totally check off my standards in a man’s face. Even though he has divorced me because of his first love and turned into a se*mbag. I still have to admit that his face has truly received the utmost favoritism from God. I have yet to encounter anyone who looks more handsome than him up to this day, whether it’s in the entertainment industry or fashion industry.

As for the subject of their discussion, he was currently chatting with someone in a ward, which was two rooms away from Hannah’s.

Sebastian and others were waiting outside the ward while Brayden sat on the chair next to the hospital bed and stared at the handsome yet wild-looking man on the bed.

“Why hadn’t I noticed that you had such a tender heart for a fair lady in the past?” Kai Tanner, the boss of Tanner Group, teased with an onlooker demeanor. “I can’t believe you would give away what you’d prepared for me to others.”

Brayden merely replied, “I will have someone buy you ten gifts later.”

“Scram,” Kai hissed unkindly. “Be honest with me. Why did you suddenly decide to pay me a visit?

I doubt you’re only here out of kindness.”

“Help me find out if Hannah has a sister around 24 years old,” Brayden parted his lips and spoke. He had always been rather upfront whenever he discussed matters with Kai.

“Planning to jump into another relationship immediately after your divorce?” Kai raised his eyebrows and joked.

Brayden answered calmly, “Cornell Corporation will be laying off some of their employees recently. Who knows? Your childhood sweetheart will be laid off by accident.”

“I dare you.”

“Shall we put it to the test, then?”

“I’ve never heard of her having a sister, but everyone in Lambert International docs refer to her as the Second Young Lady of the Lamberts sometimes.” Kai reluctantly shared information with Brayden after he inwardly criticized Brayden for his shamelessness.

The Second Young Lady of the Lamberts? Brayden frowned slightly.

“Why are you asking this?” Kai was very puzzled.

“It’s nothing.” Brayden rose to his feet, raised his hand, and patted the gauze on Kai’s shoulder twice. “Nurse your body, and treat me to dinner once you have recovered.”

Kai gasped in pain. When Brayden walked to the door, he quickly added, “I will never let you off the hook if you dare to fire my future wife!”

Book Synopsis:

Chapter 1 She's Back, So Let's Divorce

At night in Emperor Gardens, Riverton. In the spacious and bright living room, two people sat facing each other. Between them was a divorce agreement. The man wore a well-ironed suit, and he had beautiful features but a cold demeanor. The aura he exuded was so oppressive that the atmosphere around them felt tense. His cold gaze landed on the woman who was silently sitting opposite him, and his orbs were as dark as the night sky outside. "Let's get a divorce on Monday," Brayden Cornell uttered a**ertively in a cold and baritone voice. "Apart from the compensation in the divorce agreement, you can ask for anything else you need from me." "Why so sudden?" Alison Lambert spoke in such a hushed voice he nearly couldn't catch her. "Julia is back," he answered curtly. Of course, she knew who Julia was. After a short moment of silence, she replied, "Sure." Brayden was slightly taken aback as if he didn't expect her to agree to it so willingly. Flipping open the divorce agreement and skimming through the clauses, she was reminded of how she and Brayden met. Two years ago, they met at Nightingale Club. She visited the bar full of worries and bumped into Brayden, who was just dumped by his girlfriend. After taking two shots of drinks, they engaged in a pleasant conversation as if they'd been friends for years. There was no one-night stand, and they returned to their respective homes after enjoying each other's company. She saw him again three days later after that night, and when he brought his a**istant along to propose marriage to her, she agreed readily.
Alison's Identity of Romance

Review by Alison's:

4.5 out of 5

This story gets a 4.5 out of 5.
This book was fantastic! I really enjoy fantasy stories… greek mythology, Billionaire, Romance vampires, I love it all… and this book had it all and then some.  Anything fantasy or mythological, was in this book.  I really enjoyed how Cornell was able to bring them all together in a way that was seamless and natural (or at least as natural as made-up things can be).  What I mean is that when I learned these mythological characters were all in it I thought it was a recipe for disaster, but actually it works brilliantly. The storyline was incredibly interesting and well thought out.  I imagine this story required an awful lot of planning and research.  As I was reading it I thought to myself that this must have taken some time to put together.  When a lot of planning and research is involved there are usually plot-holes (contradictions/missing information), but not in this case, I saw no errors in the complex plot.
The characters were fantastic.  They were relatable and the overall story itself was an incredibly interesting read.  The ONLY reason I am not giving this story a full 5 out of 5 is because of the ‘ease of reading’ factor.  I am an avid reader, I love reading, but even I found this story a little difficult to keep up with. It required my full attention and if I left it more than a day between reading chapters, I was lost. I had to go back in the book and re-read parts just to ‘get my bearings’.  This coupled with the volume of characters made the story a little difficult to read, BUT it was well worth reading. If you are a Billionaire, lover, you HAVE TO read this book! I guarantee, you will love it. Perfect for adults (16+ due to the content) who enjoy:
  • Billionaire
  • Mythology: Greek mythology and mythological characters (Billionaire, Love, Romance, vampires)
  • Learning from reading
  • Getting lost in a complex storyline.
